Subject: V4 to V3 figure

ViperKilzz ( ) posted Mon, 30 March 2009 at 10:09 AM · edited Sun, 29 December 2024 at 3:28 AM

Greetings and Salutations All

I have the V4 to V3 figure which, from what I understand makes it so you can use the V4 head with the V3 body. I'm having a hard time finding anything on how to use this. Is it just as simple as making sure you have the V4 head selected when making adjustments or adding morphs and making sure you the V3 body selected to make adjustments to the body? What about figure posing?

Many Thanks in Advance

In the V4 to V3, the only thing you can morph is the head.  This figure is just to allow you to use V3 clothing but you can't morph the body.

Nope.  No FBM, or other body morphs for v3 work on it.  Why they didn't just put a "NECK  adapter" on the V3 body and put the V4 head on it, NO-ONE knows.  That is what I would do, but they didn't

Joe

Grate quote by Nelson Mandela. And yes they should have done that neck adapter thing.

My guess is they did not do it your way because you would end up with a head the would use V4 texture maps and a body the would use V3 texture maps.

Nope, they could have simply remapped V3 to take the V4 textures.  Sort of a reverse of the V3 remapped V4 that DPHoadley did in the market place.

^^ I did not know that this figure works this way.
If you need V3 morphed body with V4 head you can easy make conforming head with V4 to V3. Check only which neck should be hidden.

I made a copy of the V4 to V3 character and used Dimension3D's Morphing Clothes to transfer the body morphs from V3 to the V4/V3 character.
I haven't worked with the character a whole lot since then, but what I checked seemed to work ok.

Could you further explain this process? , it sounds very interesting and something I could try.
Thanks,

Morphing Clothes (see link) is designed to transfer morphs from a figure's body to clothing, but it will do the process with any mesh. The point is that clothing has a different mesh to that of the figure, so the morphs won't transfer directly (eg with Morph Manager) - you have to recalculate them.

I did something similar back in the days of Victoria 2. There was a V2P4 figure which allowed Victoria to wear Posette's clothes, and I successfully transferred several Posette morphs to that figure using The Tailor (which does a similar thing to Morphing Clothes, only not so well).

I do not know the dials in chest/neck/head area. If both figures has similar bones following trick should works.

  1. Load V43 figure.
  2. Using hierarchy editor hide all body part leaving visible only head, neck and eyes
  3. Load V3 figure with morphs (or inject desired morphs)
  4. In hierarchy editor hide head and eyes
  5. Select V43 and conform to V3
  6. ATM your figures have 2 necks visible - hide one of them, later unhide first and hide second neck and check which one suit better.

If you find head or neck bended unnatural, it means that bones are different. You can fix it fast as hairs fixing I've explained here:
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?message_id=3293183
Not always works (offset fixing can be required either)

I hope I helped
