Please spay and neuter your pets. Strongly consider shelter
adoption before spending $500 to $1000. If you MUST part with that
kind of money for a pet, go to your local shelter, donate the money
to them and pickup a highly adoptable pet. The shelters could sure
use the donation.

Isn't it about time to give up on P4 support?
As I said before, there are still a number of Poser end-users who aren't comfortable with using the Material Room yet. More and more are coming over but until I see more of a demand for .mc6 files as opposed to MAT pose files I'll keep providing the MAT pose files for my customers.

Providing MAT files isn't a matter of P4 compatibility. Most of the MAT files nowadays won't work in P4 anyway so it's kind of 6 or one half dozen of the other.
People should use the material room more often, it's one of Poser's best features.

I agree. Even when I'm making MAT pose files for my customers I'm in the material room just because of the ease of changing textures for each mat zone. I would love it if all of my customers stopped needing MAT pose files and started using .mc6 files. This next package is going to have both, I think.

Haven't found one that doesn't - P4 simply ignores what it doesn't understand. Also, AFAIK, good luck getting Daz Studio to take an unaltered .mc6/.mt5 file. MAT files may be old but they are the universal format thal all the applications understand. If it's for yourself or you want to limit your target audience, the newer ones are fine.

I prefer mat poses, simply because I know where to find different texture options for items, Load a hair or clothing, go to the /v4 clothes/ folder and find the folder with the clothing and load pose. For hair the pose folder can hold both mat poses and style poses. The mat folder is another place to check and would be just as crowded if everybody used it.
I love the Material room but prefer it for general materials for common use. There is no way of knowing if a material is a plain material or a combined one who don’t work on all objects.

That only works if you go in and move them around yourself. Otherwise the MAT files get stuck where ever that particular merchant wanted to put them. If your reorganizing your Pose library you may as well be reorganizing the material library and then you'll know where everything is in the material library. Six of one 1/2 dozen of the other...
The mat library wouldn't be as crowded because there wouldn't be poses mixed in.

Given the number of complaints I see about using MAT files in D!S I would say they don't work very well. I haven't run Poser4 since P5 SR2 came out so I can't check but I would imagine that trying to load a MAT files with the texture burried some 20 or so nodes back in the tree would result in nothing being applied to the figure.
For maximum consumer happiness I would say a seperate D!S mat would be in order. If you already have a DS mat you might as well go ahead and switch to MC6.
When I make my hair texture packages I always include a separate D|S Materials folder rather than have the end user have to deal with MAT Pose files, although I have never had any problems using a MAT pose in Studio.

Nor have I - or seen the "20 nodes back" problem either but I won't dispute that such a thing may exist. I don't know how many people are actually optimizing materials for both DS and Poser - then you'd definitely need both formats. .ds just doesn't seem to be that popular yet beyond Daz own stuff.
