Subject: Letters from merchants option in profile.

I don't mind getting the occasional Renderosity newsletter, but I'm getting more and more posts from individual merchants as well, and I'd prefer not to. Is there a way to enable Receive Renderosity news vs. Merchant posts? There's already so much posting on forums about products coming out, plus pictures in the galleries designed solely to advertise products, plus the banners on top, plus the Renderosity newsletter which details the products. I don't want to see letters from every merchant on each of their items on top of all that. I'm almost to the point of instituting my telemarketer response, "I don't purchase anything that is pushed in my face." I check the Marketplace at least once a day. If a merchant wants my business, they'll be far more successful if they show several pictures of their items from different angles than to irritate me with yet more spam in my mailbox, especially since this is my personal mailbox, not given to advertisers. I'll stop now before this becomes more suitable on the Whine and Cheese forum. :-) Thanks!

Right now, both types of emails are controlled through the "Special Offers" setting on your profile. If you feel a merchant email has gone beyond supporting an existing product you have purchased, please forward the email with your complaint to admin@renderosity.com and please CC me at rcook@renderosity.com. The merchant emails are supposed to only be for supporting their existing sales or special gift offers for new products to past customers. Not just the raw promotion of new products.

MERCHANTS TAKE NOTE: I had considered contacting the latest spamming merchant and asking for more info on one of their products before this incident. Now I doubt I'll purchase anything from them again. I'm considering starting a list of people NOT to buy from as they can't respect the rules or my privacy. I'm being nice: I'm only posting the issue publically; some people might get upset enough to publically post names as well. I don't mind pictures in the gallery that have store products so long as the point of the picture is more than just trying to drive sales. Putting credits for purchased items in a picture is fine, too. Sure, you paid for it, but if it's worth it, why not let others know? Posting about a new item in a forum can be okay - it depends on how it's done. If I did it, I'd put it there as a way for potential customers to contact me with questions so they felt they knew exactly what they were buying before hitting the purchase button. The merchant spam hit at a bad time: I just moved and the phone company sold my phone number as a new customer (target) to telemarketers so even on my days off I'm forced to deal with the damn solicitations. My last bastion of non-spam was my private email. Now that's been compromised as well. I know it's not Renderosity's fault - it's a few people abusing the system, but I'm really annoyed right now. Thanks for taking care of this.

How about a new gallery for vendor's to promote thier newold product's - not the software company's but the vendor's here at the Renderosity store then no one would complain.

Thanks. That's an idea that has been talked about.

I have nagged for a vendor's gallery for an awful long time. So, yes, I do agree, it has been "talked about"? No, brought up. I would love a merchant's gallery. I do not love SPAM, in any way, shape, or form, not even when we have a hurricane, and, I have to eat it. The powers that be don't seem to listen to me, however. I haven't been here long enough, or, maybe, it is because I refuse to sell here. Don't know. It isn't my problem, overall...I can walk away. Pop..pop...poppi!
