Greetings,

Here is a report of a new approach to imaging ...

Please read,

On the Lookout, With a Digital Security Camera

This novel methodology give a 180 degree field of view at 15 fps
butwithout the usual distortion a fish-eye camera would give.

Comments, please.

Martin, for those wanting a quick look at what it does I have put this link to the manufacturer's site with  photos from the camera.

Thanks for the info.   This camera certainly beats the normal fisheye security cam view.  I cam imagine several uses of the camera, provided proper casing and power supply is developed.

Thanks for commenting ...

provided proper casing and power supply is developed.

Their specifications say, "Power over Ethernet (POE)".

The Wiki article describes how power is distributed over ethernet (LAN) wiring.

Another source is the Power Over the Ethernet Resource site.

Many ethernet routers are available to provide power to downstream devices.

Actually, setting up a security camera with nothing but a LAN connection that
provides both communications connectivity and power is an elegant solution.

BTW, this is a complex image sensor ... and html server.

You need to have another computer somewhere running a web browseer
(or the equivalent software) to record the streaming images.
