Thanks BluEcho,
The hard disk is what crashed, sectors were dropping like flies and it was making some pretty bad grinding noises before it decided to give me the 'blue screen of death..' lol - can't complain though; it worked really well for about three years..
The rest of the machine still works fine though... the new drive is so quiet it's almost a little spooky compared to the old one... sometimes I have to lean down to listen to make sure it's still there... lol
Thanks for your kind words, Stacey and BluEcho, I really appreciate them.. ;-)

Marcus, really sorry to hear that! It can be tedious at best only having to restore files; but rebuilding a computer is beyond me! I admire the fact that you can rebuild yours!
I'm sending my good vibes to ya' during your restoration process... Hope you get things situated soon (and with as little hassle as possible). : )

Hi Angelsinger,
Thanks for your kind words. Usually it's not that bad, but with poser restoring files is a task to be sure! lol
Thing that bugs me is I lost several recent images that I hadn't had a chance to burn, with the hard disk crash they're gone now..
Actually, building a system from scratch is not as difficult as it may seem.. once you've done it a few times it's really pretty simple..
Thank you for sending yer good vibes my way, you are so kind and with the expense of buying the new hardware I can use a few good vibes right now.. ;-)
Take care,
Marcus
Marcus, I forgot to check the 'notify' button; so I didn't realize you responded already. ;)

I hear you on that one! For some time, I've been regularly backing up the files that store my Poser preferences, the library's external runtimes, personalized user interface... Before I knew I could do that, I dreaded having to put them all back. :p

Awww! I'm so sorry about that! I know how that feels!

Well, that's great news for me, then! I would need someone to advise me in person the 1st time, I'm sure! (I'd take notes -- and pictures for the next time!) :P

You're a sweetie, Marcus! ;)
And you may not believe this, but guess what happened?
A couple days ago, my external hard drive became randomly inaccessible (sometimes I could open it, other times I couldn't). Well, yesterday it looked like I might lose all my content on it; it showed the same signs of dying that previous external drives did before they bit the Big One.
Yesterday was Easter, almost every store was closed. My boyfriend & I ran around and finally found an open store.... Got another drive, and I'm actually able to copy files from my old drive to this new one.
I've been thanking God ever since!
Seems like I reaped some of those good vibes I sent you!
