Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
The only real benefit is that the extra money you spend will get you one extra person to shout at if things go wrong in any app that officially supports one of these cards. This can be a life saver if you run a business for example where your clients will not be amused to hear of your hardware woes.
For everything else, quadros are a total waste of money. They are not much, if at all faster then the geforce equivalents, and very few apps support the extra features they have. Poser doesnt support a single one, and it will not see any performance increase from one of these. You can get an nVIDIA 260 GTX for 1/4th the money of that FX 3700 and it will run rings around the quadro.
You might not see much difference between the Quadro and the Geforce in Poser but if you run a number of the Pro apps then you most probably will according to 3DWorld Mag

I'm specing out a new computer to mostly work in graphics. Does anyone know if there is any real advantage to using a Quadro FX line card? I don't game at all, but I do want something that will run Poser, Photoshop/Lightroom, and SketchUp well. I don't think SketchUp uses GPU hardware at all, and I suspect Adobe will benefit from pretty much anything. So my main thought is what would Poser like to see.
I did a search but didn't see much talk on this topic, so I thought I'd ask for myself. Anyone had experience with these cards? I'm looking at this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133218.
I'm probably going to put in a core i7 3.2 Ghz (and over clock it), 12 GB of ram, RAID0 drive for data, etc.
