Subject: Super frustrating poser issues. Please help if you can :D

Ok, so I'm getting frustrated. I have been using Poser 7, every time a dialogue box pops up, Poser 7 freezes. I've tried every fix I could find on the internet and nothing worked, so I just gave up and scrounged up my old Poser 6 CD and installed that. It worked just fine, then I re-installed all of the content that I had in Poser 7. Now, poser 6 loads, I see the menus (file, edit, etc.) and then everything disappears. Grrr... I dont' know what I installed, but some content must be crashing the program. Does anyone know what content would be incompatable with poser 6? I did install V4, M4, and A4, which I never used with poser 6 before.

I am using Win XP, On a Dell Inspiron 6000. (sucky, I know)
Anyway, I've been easily able to run poser before, and 7 was working except for the dialouge box issues. I don't understand why 6 won't run.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I've already installed the newest drivers for my graphics card, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I also already disbled active desktop.

Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, using an alternate runtime folder seems to work. Thanks mates :D

Ugh... now my cursor disappears whenever I move the camera. It's so frustrating! I tried lowering my 3d acceleration settings, no luck.

Please help. Thank you.

Does it work okay when you use SreeD preview? If so, it's something to do with OpenGL compatibility.

It's likely that your notebook does not have the graphics capability (specifically OpenGL support) that Poser really needs... most notebooks with integrated graphics chipsets do not.

I know it was working better at one time, but don't let human logic get in the way of locating a problem with a computer!

I found Poser worked better on an older version of the display driver for my card . Try sreed instead of opengl.

If using windows, go into advance Cotrol Panel | Display | Settings | Advance | Troubleshoot.
You will see Hardware acceleration - reduce that by one or two notches.

Also, go into your graphics card management software, if you have that installed.
Turn off anisotropic filtering, and other fancy settings which give good image quality but horrible computer performance.
