AeroJett  I really like the simple life of hiking against an unearthly daytime sky.

rj001.  I liked the classic coloring and the planet surface.  That model helped a little, LOL

dhama  I liked the mono color and the ship

HMs in alphabetical order

Garmac
Kanzler
Lown

Quest

kanzler - 3pts
Quest - 2pts
Pierre-O - 1pt

I had a hard time choosing 2nd and 3rd place winners as I really liked both Quest's and Pierre-O's entries equally.

A couple of Honorable Mentions:
AeroJett
Lown
skiwillgee

Gerile -   3 pts
rj001 -     2 pts
Aerojett - 1 pt

The reason behind my voting.

Gerile,
I like that you built a very nice model. And as you said you decided to stick to the Chesley Bonestell theme. Great job.

rj001,
What can I say, you're one of the best. I read your post on this project. I think I picked up some new way of doing things. I can't wait to try them out. I love you're modeling.

Aerojet,
I just like this piece. It says a lot without being too busy.

To everyone else I can only pick three. But I think everyone did a great job.

OK I'm gonna cop out totally because this has to be the best work I've ever seen in a challenge. I can't even narrow it down to a favorite 10. So good luck to the winners, you will definitely deserve it, all of these are top notch work ladies and gentlemen.

Don't worry, I'm used to my name being mutilated (at least I don't think you were deliberately calling me a 'girlie')  As long as the vote counts, I don't care.**

3pt     Skiwillgee
2pt     rjay 9663
1pt     Lown
Hms for Dhama, Orbital, Kanzler and Pierre-o

I find with these challenges that you think you have done a reasonable entry and others can hit the nail perfectly on the head. Skiwillgee's entry did this for me. Not since Pidgy's entry for 'The deep' many years ago has anyone got it so perfect.
Congrats to all parcipitants

Ang25 ( ) posted Fri, 01 May 2009 at 6:02 PM

I'm also having a hard time narrowing this down. There are just too many excellent, fantastic over the top images.
I've even tried to make up an HM list and that is so long too.
I'm going with:
3pts to Quest, it had tons of intricate models and a fantastic nebula sky, and great orange glow coming out of the engines.
2 pts for Lown, again lots of intricate modeling and who doesn't love Central Park.
1 pts to Skiwillgee, Looks like it came right off the cover of a Sci Fi novel, great composition.

Many others came close to getting my vote. Orbital, love the fuzzy feel and organic-ness of it.
Great modeling done by Kanzler, Thandaluz, rj9663, rj001, kiteflyer, Dhama and I'm sure I've missed a few more who impressed me.
Loved the feel of Garmac's entry.
Pierre-o put together an awesome scene.
Just so much talent here, I'm very impressed by it all.
Congrats go out to all who participated in this challenge.

Dhama--- 1
Lown---2
Kansler---3

Basically  these images hit me as belonging in the front cover of Sci-fi paper books, Thats why I chose them.....   Everyone did a great job...

I'll repeat what others have said - very hard to choose from so many excellent entries!
But in keeping with the Bonestell theme all go with:
Skiwillgee - 3 pnts
Dhama - 2 pnts
Geirla - 1 pnt

HM - Orbital, rj001, Down, Quest and Kansler.

Lown ( ) posted Fri, 01 May 2009 at 8:03 PM

Damn hard choice,

Orbital 3pts
Dhama 2pts
RJ001 1pt

Hm´s and close to getting a vote,

Sorry, guys, but there are so many well done entries in this month's Challenge that I've given up trying to pick only three of them.  So, in my book, everyone's a winner.  They are all top-notch work and everyone skillfully adhered to the theme which was presented.

First, let me say that I’m grateful for such a wonderful turnout of talent. All the entries are simply spectacular!  They are a feast for the eye to behold. I would like to thank all the entrants for participating. This includes those that couldn’t, for whatever reason get their entries in on time. I feel homage has duly been paid to Chesley Bonestell for the genre and movement  of art that he inspired. I would also like to thank you for affording me the privilege of presenting this challenge to the forum.

As many have said, it is truly difficult to chose but one winner…so I vote for…me…LOL…j/k! Anyway, here we go:

#24 Pierre-O -3pts.

#3 Orbital -2pts.

#15 AeroJett -1pt.

Honorable Mention goes to:

Lown

Skiwillgee

Kanzler

Rjay

Rj001

Garmac

Dhama

Congratulations and many thanks to everyone.

I'm not voting because I'm managing the contest. Considering the questions that have been raised during this one, I'm not leaving myself open to the possiblity of someone calling my voting into question because of my position as moderator.

The rules as they stand also state that in the event of a tie, the ratings will be shared between those tied. In other words if there are two artists with the same number of votes at the top, 1st place will be shared. The fact that I cannot place a deciding vote precludes me from the voting process as a whole.

Such a shame that it has to be so restricted when the whole thing is just for fun, and a way for newcomers to learn and see what Bryce is possible of.
