Subject: Looking for ultra-low polygon dummies

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 05 May 2009 at 11:28 AM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 7:17 AM

anyone know of any ultralow polygon dummies for the poser / daz figures? basically I'm talking about just box or cylinder figures with the same rigging / proportions of the mainly used figures such as Vicki, Mike, Miki etc.

(before anyone suggests low poly V1 - she's got to many polygons)

I'm taking these dummies into Sketchup - it does not handle normal poser figures at all - they are just to big....

There are low polygon Poser figures that will work

Look for the low polygon figures on DAZ by Predatron (3769 polygons), or Vincent Parker on Vanishing Point (13 000 polygons).

Online Now!

First of all do they have to be poser-specific? I seem to recall seeing low-poly people from Dosch. These will not be cheap!

Also Predatron has lo-poly males over at DAZ.

Probably not what you're looking for, but the closest you're likely to get.

erm to many polygons.

Gee Khai, how low do you want to go? Most people agree that to look vaguely human the model will need at least 3000 polygons. You could of course just go with a picture on a transmapped plane and use 1 polygon, not sure what it is you want to do.

guys guys.

thanks but... still to many polygons.

for this to work the count has to be in the Hundreds. not thousands. also detail is not needed. I mean it when I said boxes and cylinders. all I need is the proportions and rigging.

Sketchup does not handle large amount of poly's well. hell they are used to making entire houses in about 300 polygons.

all I need these figures for is to build round (seats, etc) before I move the models to a modeler able to handle larger amounts of polygons.
(Sketchup is a great outliner for projects you see... better to start in there then move to another modeler)

I don't know of any, but for clarification, are you looking for "forms" to make clothes and such on?

You answered my question while I was asking.

no clothes needed

look open poser. load figure. switch to box tracking. move.

Thats what I'm looking for but with the proportions of a poser figure! (say V4 is 20 inches across the shoulders, the box figure is 20 inches across the shoulders) and rigged so they move in the same arcs.

ok this is a screengrab from poser set to box tracking.

I'm looking for figures like this. (I can't use that since it's only a display mode in poser).

edit - hell I don't even need fingers and toes. just the size of the hands and feet.

I hope I'm making sense now.

You're welcome.😄

BTW - You will need to adjust the bones for the hands and feet.
Can you do that OK or do you need the corrected figure?
