Does anybody know of a plugin that greebles a model in  Bryce? I noticed there are ones for C4d, TrueSpace, Maya, Lightwave, etc...but was wondering if there was one for Bryce (would be very handy). Anyone up for creating said plugin???

Wasn't aware that there was even a plugin socket architecture in Bryce. I can make you some in 3D Studio,..........with a greeble modifier.

Yeah, but City Generator is kinda naff though! Much better to make a greyscale image yourself in some paint program (everybody should have at Microsoft Paint installed on their Pc, use that if you aint got nothing better). You could make an image just like the one posted above easily and quickly in Bryce using terrains, but you probably already knew that Zhann.

As for real Greebles in Bryce, its not possible unless your name is Rj001!!!

Thanks guys, I was wondering, happened onto the site "Greeblelicious", they're totally dedicated to greebles I must say...and heard about city generator but didn't see a link for it only to the plugins, thanks again...=)

My interest was peaked after looking at some of Rochr's stuff...

one of the two things Blender's any good for (prejudiced? me?..;) is a discombobulator function.
It generates greebles on any object; the trick is how to get it to work right (I created a tutorial for it, but lawsi knows if it's still up or not.) Blenders' free at blender dot org. Now if the interface wasn't so.....(insert depreciating comment here...;)

have ta check the sites above; always looking for a better greeble.

Reminds me of (I'm dating myself...;) a Led Zepplin album cover from waaaay back; I think the original beach is in Scotland or Ireland somewhere....

LOVE Greeble.

WISH there was something that could emulate it in Bryce, but there isn't. Well, you can make flat surfaces, obviously, but for adding those little random shapes to other shapes/meshes there is just no real way to do inside of Bryce.

Of course if Bryce just had displacement support, we COULD emulate it.

sigh

HUGE computer meltdown. I basically have a new one now after a long re-build.

Work is crazy as ever with 3 movies starting to take place under one roof. It's no real secret I work alongside Image Movers Digital here in L.A., so while I'm not really allowed to mention stuff about the movies themselves, you can look up what Bob Zemeckis is producing/Directing (as far as MoCap movies go) and you will see what I'm involved in. The first that I worked on, "A Christmas Carol" will finally have some worldwide exposure soon, so that is cool.

Work, eat and sleep. That's about all I have time for, lol.

And, now that I have a working computer again, a little Renderosity.

Here's a golden oldie. You can do this in Bryce if all you want is a terrain city kinda like the first pic in this thread through an undocumented function in the terrain editor. I'm assuming it still works post Bryce 5. Just follow the yellow brick link. peace out John

Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland :)
the other end of the original flowis in Staffa, Fingals Cave, off Scottish coast
one massive lava flow that was so thick and laid in ONE go, it took years ot cool, allowing the crystalline columns to form. Awesome, eh? :)

SImilar thing can be found in the USA: The Devil's Postpile, also, the famous mountain in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

and yes Bryce should have aplugin system!

*fm a previous thread repy by BecSchm

"...If you can use flat-topped houses, make a terrain (the default one will work), then while holding down the ALT key, roll your mouse over the POSTERIZE marble until you get a grid pattern that you like.  Render away! ..."*

I might add that if you 1) create a terrain 2) duplicate it 3) inside terrain editor, posterize it as becschm described 4) release the mouse button and do it a second time it will create varying shaped rectangular maps.  Experiment with amount of posterization. Back in the scene, lower the posterized terrain a bit and raise its height so the greeble extends out of the original terrain.  Tah dah!  Miscellaneous shape buildings with spacing like streets.
