Subject: OLD VISE INSTALLER - MAC PROBLEM

johnr1969 ( ) posted Fri, 22 May 2009 at 1:30 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 4:18 PM

ANY SUGGESTIONS? FAIRLY URGENT. I bought the DAZ  Hippocampus (Mermaid's Horse) but the installer requires MAC Classic which is no longer available with the version of MAC i have. Is there any way of getting the installer to work?

I have contacted DAZ but its Friday now so I may not hear back until Tuesday

Any advice gratefully received. I am in the strange position of needing a mermaid-horse urgently!

best

give 'em a phone call.  they've already been told to provide new versions of installers for old files.   we can't extract this for ya without their permission.

They really should Discontinue those older items or repacked them into OSX installers
No one is using OS9 anymore

What a lot of people do is use one of the software packages that allow you to run windows to unpack older content like this. Just have to dl the win version of the installer. Not sure if Bootcamp from Apple is free or not and or what it comes with, I use Parallels to run XP on my inTel mac so I can use other apps like Morphing Clothes, XDresser, StitchWith, etc which only run under windows.

Yeah Im running "crossover" on my intel macbook it work pretty well with exe files
but the op problem is that DAZ has older product that stil are packaged with ancient
MAC OS9 installers.
its like if you were offering/selling something that would require PC users to have Windows 95 to extract.

just silly here in 2009

I agree, it's completely silly on Daz's part. No matter how much you want what ever it is (time and hassle to create it yourself vs the cost), their response is ask for  a refund of your money with a we don't care attitude.

The PC  installer should run using Darwine...
