Hooooooola~ Brycers! I have been gone a long while, just getting up and running again:-) Just wanted to say hi to all my ole buddies and to new ones too. Question....why does Washington state kill mac puters??? Since I moved out here 2 1/2 yrs ago I've managed to kill 4 macs:-( never had this prob back in Missouri LOL! Anyways, gotta new work horse and trying to get it up to speed. Glad the Bryce cause is still in effect, we'll get moving on some new work and kick this dog into high gear and make the big push for a Bryce 7!!! My website is still up and running, but is in a remodel stage so watch the nails and tacks if you drop by until I get dreamweaver reinstalled and the new site completed. Glad to be back I missed all my buddies and friends...(lil tear) anyhoo everyone has been doing some really nice artwork, great to see creative minds at work;-)

Wooohooo! Hi ya Clay. :m_peace: (closest I could get to a 'waving madly' emoticon)  Lol

That's some very nice animation you've got there, do you have a sound track for it yet, or is that it?  I'm afraid I'm not too impressed with the sound - but the animation, wow!  It reminds me a little of Return to Zork, but much much better, what a lot of interesting ideas you have there.

Fascinating stuff!

Indeed, welcome back even tho I likely wasn't here when you went walk about, heh heh heh. Had a long look thru your offsite gallery and you were really good from the start of that and only got better. It will be nice to see what you do now if you can keep yer mac breathing...LOL. I kinda BSOD myself in Wash. state so I sympathize with your machines.. ...

Sorry you're not impressed Fran, big deal, fits the scenes and the genre so ehh, its a movie/game that's been in the making for years, great project to beta bryce, maya and various other apps out on till I get the look feel and sound I want:-)

Nothing all that wrong with the sound as it is, I was just wondering where the sound effects were, you see, it felt like listening through soundproofing - no explosions, no rocket motors etc, that was all.

If those are just trailers, the full film must be amazing!

Well yeah that's just it..it's trailers, can't afford the voice over guy, no offense take or anything. There will be sound effects etc. composing music/sound effects while rendering and modeling at the same time is awesome!! I don't mean that in a sarcastic way at all, its just fun as hell LOL!!!

Well good on you if you find it fun, I'm having to do the same and I don't find it fun, but then I'm totally unmusical, can sing a bit, can't play anything and can't read music..., I'm a bit better at sound effects, but not by much, so good luck if you are, I envy you.

I guess you have a complete story to go with that animation then? sounds like you do, sounds intriguing too.

Man - the G5 DP was the only Mac that drove me crazy. Every 4th or so start up would fail (blinking question mark) but by restarting again and again I'd eventually get it to start.
Finally turned out to be a motherboard issue which Apple replaced for free, even though it was out of warrenty. Then it started doing it again but now they were out of the motherboards. Apple offered me a new iMac but I really wanted a tower. Finally I sold it to a Mac repair guy to use for spare parts. Arghhh!
And yes - you're fire is one heck of a useful texture.

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Thu, 30 April 2009 at 7:10 PM

I never knew there was a scene for the fire.

But I definitely join in singing the praises of your fire, its been my friend for many years and I've enjoyed playing with it, and adjusting it and building on it here and there.  And recommending it at the drop of a hat to anyone who'll listen. Lol

Bryster, if ya haven't yet already..apply the fire mat to a water plane/terrain and animate the material and the terrain at the same time, makes for some super trippy FX;-)

Wootey helley hooooo..got the G5 fixed methinks!!! woot woot, just put some new ram in it after 2 mo of troubleshooting everything, needless to say Apple knows me by name:-) Like they don't already, spent hundreds of thousands on their products LOL!! Anyways, Mr. Dan Whiteside...this machine is the fastest I've ever owned, renders like a drag car WOW!!! But I'm old school and I have a 2004 machine..sigh oh well newest I've owned in yrs, but its working, got leopard on it and all is right in the universe so far, the ATI 256mg graphics card is a lil iffy, but it works. Gonna take me a day or two to get all my software reloaded but tests so far are stunningly fast and am excited, set bryce to render an old scene that took 4 days to render on normal , set it to superfine with full shads etc all bells and whistles on, not kidding here..took 7 1/2 minutes LMAO!!! Took Mojoworld files, rendered in like 3, the default world loaded and rendered instantly in open GL, I thought I had taken some trippy drugs WHEEEEee. Anywaaaaays, can't wait to get Maya unlimited loaded back as well, should be much fun, gots lottsa images to make, been here in the Seattle area for 21/2 yrs, have a helluva lotta inspiration for new images:-) Keep Brycin everyone, its GREEN:-)
