Subject: Full size viewer

Octaganoid ( ) posted Mon, 25 May 2009 at 3:43 PM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 3:41 AM

Would it be possible to change the full size viewer background colour to a less intense shade here at Rendo ? Preferably black. (who could i suggest this to ?)
With LCD monitor displays being as bright as they are nowadays the pure white viewer creates glare that can reduce the contrast of the full size viewed image. An image viewed against a black backdrop stands out much better i think.
Does anyone else agree with me ? Or is this just something that I and nobody else experiences ? I guess this only really applies to those who do actually view images full size, i know many don't.

Regards.. Shaun

Might be something for the suggestions box forum:

Maybe it could be incorporated into the CSS personalisation we have on here (from what i can see the popup isnt tagged) - i already have a dark mainview for the reasons you say (white on dark text too)...

Edit to add: if you didnt guess i think you have a good point...(i tend to view others full size if i know the image isnt already at full size - i tend to post mine at 720 and check the full size option so people dont need to click on it...)

OK thanks Rich, i'll put it in the suggestion box. Glad I'm not alone on this one, and it's not just my eyes.

Regards..

I'd like to see it happen, as well.

I have found this on another site I use a colour scale, it can be used to adjust the background to your likeing.  Maybe something like that could work here.

I submitted the suggestion, and also posted it on the community forum.. One of the suugestion box staff members is going to suggest it to the programmers...

We'll see what happens?

Thanks for the pointers...

Kind regards.. Shaun.

In the meantime (thanks to another members help) i am using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. This can do exactly what i suggested with the aid of freely downloadable add ons (of which there seem to be 100's). All you do is download extensions into Tools/Add ons, to enable certain functions. The one that converts the background to a custom colour is called 'Image tweak' and you just change the custom colour in the 'options' to '#000000' which is black. You then view full size and 'right click' over the full size view and choose 'view image'. This then does exactly what i suggested and the background becomes black.
Firefox is excellent. Fully customisable too if any of you wish to try this.

Regards... Shaun.
