Subject: Purchase Carrara 6 - Where?

geep ( ) posted Thu, 28 May 2009 at 6:04 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 1:29 PM

Do you know where I can purchase (legal) version of Carrara 6 or Carrara 6 Pro?

Thanks for any info you may be able to provide. 😄

Well, I suppose you could always try the makers of the software, http://www.daz3d.com  ;-)

I don't know if you can purchase JUST C6 Pro from DAZ anymore, but they do have it on 3DArtist magazine, issue 1, and DAZ has it with the CD that comes with the new DAZ|Studio Manual.  If you can find it (Barnes and Nobles or Borders I know have it), the magazine is about $5 cheaper.

I have the same problem.  I got my copy of 6 Pro second hand on eBay, and now I can't get the upgrade.  I contacted Daz and they were no help at all.  I CANNOT afford the full version price for 7 pro so I may be pooched...  They didn't seem all that enthusiastic about keeping a customer.  Now I am stuck with a buggy install of 6 which I won't even have when I build my next box.  I can't find my receipt or original disks even...

Letterworks ( ) posted Thu, 28 May 2009 at 8:15 PM

Like Jenx said, grab the 01 issue of 3DArtist magazine, costs abouot $15.00 U.S. and you get the full version of Carrara 6.2 Pro plus 10 free DAZ creature models and several very useful tutorials. Should give you a very cheap upgrade route.

JenX ( ) posted Thu, 28 May 2009 at 8:17 PM

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the creatures, lol.  I was more interested in getting and learning Carrara, and this was the cheapest way for me.  (BTW, Mark, your articles were really great :) )

 Why thanks Jen. ;-)

Also, regarding purchasing the full version of Carrara, it's well known that DAZ puts Carrara on huge sales periodically since it's a loss leader for selling content. It wouldn't surprise me if another sale might happen soon. Patience is a virtue.

I've heard that there is a new DAZ Studio book at Amazon that includes free Carrara and Hexagon also.  I don't know if it is really free or just trial versions.

Online Now!

If you are in the US, you can probably still pick up a copy of 3D Artist Magazine #1. Subscribers are getting issue #3 now (which features a free copy of Shade 8.5 Standard), which means its probably 30-60 days away from shelves in the US.

Best regards,

Couldn't find it on B&N's site but here's a link to the back issue page on the magazines site, It's listed there as still available.

Yepp, did the same.

The good thing is:

Shortly after I have ordered the book, I have received an e-mail with the Carrara6 serial and was able to buy the update to Carrara 7 :-))

Cheers
