Okay, my crazy cat lady is totally showing...  That's what happens when you leave me home alone too long ;)

Oh, Boni, I'm so sorry that you were having health troubles! Should like it's getting better now? I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Thank You for the kind words!

Yesterday, when I said, I'm going to get BriBri's sister too, my honey gave me a curious "Are you?", and I gave him a reassured nod.  I think I have him almost worn down.

I'm waiting to hear back from the lady where I adopted BriBri, to see how ashley is doing. Told her my honey is getting really close to giving in!

Just to let you know that the surgery went well.  I have a "new" focal point and that is taking a lot of adjustment ... but the vision in my right eye (the only one I see out of) was saved.  I still make horrible typos in the forums, but people seem to be tolerant.

I so hope your get BriBri's sister.  Oli, Sassy, Sunny Girlfriend, Eli, Mr. Bojangles, Nod-Nod, Tail "the Into Cat", and Smudge-Face "the Stalker Cat " as well as Joxer and Magic the dogs all wish you the best!  Me too, of course.

Talk to my cats? You mean I'm not the only one? I talk to them like I'd talk to another human, and ignore the "there she goes again... when is she going to Meow and get down to business?" looks I get from them. LOL!

And nothing will drive Wilson faster from my lap than singing. Yes, I can't carry a tune in a bucket but does he have to be so obvious?

My Bubba-Cat is a chaterbox, he always has something to say!  I think sometimes he cusses me out too, like, after I open the door for him to come in, and it didn't happen fast enough.

When he sees hummingbirds, he starts to sing to them. It's not just your regular mip mip mip, but he has a whole range of sounds and tones.  By the variety of his chatter, I can tell if it's another kitty, crows or hummingbirds he's seeing.

I told my honey I'm getting Ashley next weekend, he's grumbling a little bit, but he's not putting up much of a fight. He's saying, wouldn't it be better to find a very friendly kitty, rather then one that needs work... well, yea, but I'm not looking for another cat, I want Ashley becuse she is Bri's sister!!! I gather they always hung together. Bri needs a playmate, she's a lot more active then Bubba, and when he's asleep and I'm working, she gets bored, what's more perfect then her sister!!!

I always love listen to cats chirp to birds, or make clicking noises, or other unusual things that tell you there's something yummy outside the window that he would love to bring and place at your feet.

A show of hands from anyone who has found a half-eaten mouse in their bed. :scared:

About twenty years ago we had a cat named Tigger, who was a mousing fool. At one point he was catching them almost daily, due to the fact my landlady was remodeling our kitchen. There was one pipe he would just sit in front of, eyes dilated, tail twitching.

He used to eat the entrails on the critters and leave the rest for Mom and Dad in their bed.

Tell him Wilson's story. That "cat that needs work" might, in the end, turn out to be the best companion ever. It's a given that due to his age and unfriendliness Wilson would have spent the rest of his life in a shelter. Sometimes, they surprise you. He's extremely sweet, friendly, affectionate, and, in the venacular of my religion, what I believe to be a familiar. House has been much happier since his brother's arrival, as well.

Your honey might just be surprised. :thumbupboth:

Yea, my experience with 'unfriendly' cats was that one they see you're going to be gentle with them, they are very sweet and sensitive. Bri is a lot that way too.
Cats aren't puppies, to run to you and demant play and attention no matter how you treat them, you have to come to them. My honey is more of a dog person, I think.

Ashley is in a foster home with one of those intense little dogs that is hyper gets upset and yaps at everything - no wonder she's scared and intimidated. Plus her name too, vocalize Ashley - shounds like a hiss!  I love the name itself, but kitty isn't going to come to you if she thinks she's being hissed at. She doesn't know Ashley is a beautiful 'hooman' name.

Finally, I heard back from my doctor!  No cancer on pap smear.

However, my thyroid test came out very out of whack. They tell me some of the bad lab results that are are signal of cancer are also a signal of a bad thyroid.  Things are pointing towards a thyroid problem. They need more tests to see if it's Graves disease, or Hashimotos (both autoimmune thyroid conditions, I gather) or if its one of the less common conditions. More tests next week. The doc finally felt my thyroid, and said it does seem enlarged. I couldn't tell, because I gained so much weight in las couple of years, I thought my neck feeling fatter was just from getting, well, fatter.

It's good to know that being at high risk for cervical or ovarian cancer, it came out normal. That's one big load off my back.

My honey also signed us up for a weight loss program, it's a closely medically supervised weight loss program, Lindora. We start tomorrow. We're on the first 10-week go-around, as the general goal is to lose about 40 pounds in the first 10 weeks. Usually first few weeks, you lose a lot, then it tapers off.

Aaaand, I'm getting Ashley this saturday. The girls whom handled her and Bri at the rescue place tell me that Bri was actually the more scared one of the two, which is even better for Ashley!

Maybe things will start moving in a positive direction for a change.

Even better news, Ashely is coming with me tommorrow, don't gave to wait till saturday.

Bri has settled in quite well. Plays like a little wiggly butt full of attitude monkey, in front of everyone including the dog in the middle of the livingroom.

I think right now she thinks that the dog smells like a Tomcat, she's going through the twirly twisty squirmy walking on her back kind of a thing that kitties do in front of Tomcats. She kicks 70e dog out of her bed, and takes it over. Bri is 7 pouds, the dog is 70. Tooo adorable!

Wow, that's a cool looking pic. Very expressive! Boni, You got some drawing talent there!!!!

YAAAY, Ashely is here with us, came here about three hours ago! She found a spot on one of the high shelves and is watching the other two. She's a tad defensive (hissy), but not quite as skittish as Bri was. If you can call three little hisses and one grrr hissy. Bubba and Bri didn't hiss back, they're just very curious, but in a pretty friendly way.

Ashley is little more meowy and vocal then Bri. Bri doesn't vocalize much - except when I leave the room without her. Ashley seems to want to talk to you when you're there. She's already used to her name, and often meows back when you call her name.

Bri and Ashley are curiously staring at each other across the room. Bubba is dozing off. I'd say the initial introduction went pretty well. The biggest blunder was made by me, as I knocked out a drawer of trinkets floor in the office, it made a big crash and spooked all three of them for about 10 min. Go figure. Clumsy Momma cat!

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Wed, 03 June 2009 at 9:49 PM

Okay, now observing her most of the day, Ashley is not skittish or unfriendly at all!  Her and Bri hadn't quite hit it off as I hoped, but Ashley is very people friendly. My honey is a bit on the loud side on occasion, and more of a head and back patter then petter and snuggler, and Ashley let her pet her a lot, and loved it.  Bri feels intimidated around him.

But the foster house that Ashly came home has three 20-year olds, two guys and a girl, living on their own in tiny small apartment, with a yappy dog. Looks like a pretty loud rowdy place, and Ashley has been hiding most of the time... like when the guys are yelling playing video games.... She's not hiding here at all. Still sitting on the same shelf, she hasn't gone exploring yet, even when we left her alone in the room.

Ashley is asleep right now, not crumpled up in a scared little catloaf, but looks like she's pretty comfortably sprawled out. She LOOOVES her tummy rubbed, instantly and intensely rolls on her back. Bri is trying to sneak up closer to her while sh's asleep, to sniff her over. Bri was doing that with Bubba first few days too.

My little Angel Tigger is watching over all of us :)

Yea, they are totally reacting like" "I thought I got rid of you. What are you doing in my house?". Especially Bri. Ashley is keeping both of them at a distance with a bit of a hiss and a growl at the moment. They're keeping to themselves for the most part.

My goodness! Bri is looking sleek and gorgeous! Once Ashley gets all rested up from the chaos house and the move, and has time to process all of it, and Bri and Ashley sort out their personal space, they should find mutual grooms and snuggles acceptable. Little solitary tigers, aren't they? ;)

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Thu, 04 June 2009 at 5:16 PM

So... Ashley spend the night with Bubba in my office, aka, The Cat Room!  It went well, Bubba was being submissive, Ashley climbed up on the cat tree and slept there, whenever I came in to check.  Needless to say, my night was like having a baby, waking up every couple of hours to check on them.

6 AM after my honey went to work and the gog was out of the bedroom, I brought Ashley in, to hang out with me and Bri. They growled at each other a little bit, but Bri went back to her usual spots, and Ashley took a 'stronghold' under the bed. Of course, I can't get her out of there now, without spooking her too much, so Bubba and Bri and I are hanging out in the Cat Room, and little Ashley is by herself in the bedroom. Whenever I try to sneak in, I hear her running under the bed. I caught her once, and she starts snuggling and purring when you do, but then she tricked me and jumped off. I think that stressed her enough for now.  She doesn't seem to meowl like Bri did when I would leave the room...

I'm impatient, I'd rather have her here in the cat room, then in the bedroom by herself.... tapping fingers....

YAY, Ashley is with us in tha cat room now, on her shelf. She finally let me come up to her in the bedroom, and snuggle her up and carry her to the cat room. She'll be a great kitty when she settles in.

Both, Bri and Ashley have a little waft of white fur low on her tummies. Bri's is heart shaped. Ashley has just one little waft in the middle.

It's like looking at those pictures where you have two of them, and have to find details that are different. I love it!

Heh. Once upon a time, I had a tuxedo cat named Spyder. Spyder was pretty much a bully, who had to whack anyone he passed... just because. When I stayed with my parents for a couple of weeks while relocating, he went straight to a closet and hid. I pitched him out of it 3 times before he decided he wasn't going to get murdered or anything. On the other hand, Brie spent 3 years in my office. I'd wake up and see a flash of her darting back in there every so often. I thought the cat hated me.

I'd keep pestering her every few hours, just so she knows her presence is missed, and insist she come out to eat. No eating under the bed! LOL

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Fri, 05 June 2009 at 3:54 PM

Well, no big hugz and kisses yet, but the girls have stopped hissing and growling at each other.  Their little hisses and geowls are so funny, they're so under breath, and not outwardly aggressive, they sound more like whining and complaining. Typical girls!!!

Bri went back to her normal routine.
Ashley has ventured around the rooms a little bit at night, but mostly stays in safe spots. I'm getting her to learn that under the bed is not a safe spot, but rather one of the shelves, where she's more accessible. She eats more then Bri, so she is easier to bribe with food and treats. Bri could care less for kitty treats and people food morsels.

They're so much alike, in behavior too. From about 5 feet away, you can't tell them apart, other then different color collars and different sounding bell.  Perfect amount of doting for me too. Just Bri was not quite enough. Bri and Bella, is perfect! (Bubba doesn't like my doting, so I try to not bug him)

**Okay, I'm gonna preface this post by saying SERIOUSLY that THIS IS NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH AT HEART. Got that? If you dont like hearing about extreme animal abuse, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.**

For the rest of you, we have a chance to take down a sadistic piece of human trash and teach her that you dont mess with animal lovers. Do a Google search for "Cheyenne Cherry" (trust me, guys, this is NOT for the faint of heart: I mean it). Then go to the link and sign the petition to have this waste of space tried as an adult, then send it to everyone you know who cares even one small whit about our furry friends. The petition and all of the letters about this that have been received by the NY Daily News are being forwarded to the judge trying the case around the end of June, **so act NOW.

** The last time I checked, the petition had close to 9,000 signatures on it. They only need 2500, but I suspect the new goal is 10,000. But I swear, ANYTHING to put this kid behind bars for a really, really long time.**

My 19 year old stepson is in a hospital, in ICU, with really bad complications from infectious mononucleosis. He's been in there for a week now, and in the hospital for two weeks.

He's been hanging in there, but tonight everyone is extremely worried that he's not going to make it.
:crying:

Sending lots and lots of positive vibes your way!!!

Thanks guys!  I just came home from most of the day in the hospital. He's not in a very good shape, but opverall his condition isn't getting any worse at the moment.  The doctors are pretty baffled with his condition, and are looking to transfer him to UCLA - a major research and teaching medical center. Hospital that he's in right now is really good too, but not quite up to par as UCLA. We're waiting for a bed to open up over there.

He's gone.
He died at 3AM this morning, just few hours ago.

Only 19 years old. Unbelievable. Everyone is in a big shock.
