Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
I've asked the same question before, and got the answer from Stewer, if I remember correctly. These are not his exact words, but the meaning...
Poser uses it's own internal format for the render cache, and there is no way to convert them into any recognisable image format.
Poser itself obviously has some internal conversion utility, and I dare say some clever Python person could find a way to harness it.
(Poser Pro can use an HDR-compatible format for its render cache, but this is no good to you).

Hmmm... a good thought. Poser 7 does not save them as .raw files, but this might work... it's worth a try, anyway.
The RAW file extension only indicates that the file contains unprocessed image data, such as you would get directly from the sensor of a digital camera, but it doesn't tell us which RAW data format it uses. There are many different RAW data formats for different makes of camera, and even different models from the same manufacturer can use different formats.
Still, the raw2bmp thingy might be able to sort this out, if Poser does happen to use one of the known formats.

Quote - well, that one didn't work with the P6 .tmp files. :(
Camera RAW files won't have alpha data.
The format is trivial :-
Header 12 bytes, consisting of width (long little endian), height (long little endian), another long probably pixel size in bytes (little endian).
Followed by (width * height) BGRA data by row starting at the top.
As Poser can be used to export these images (as mentioned earlier) there doesn't seem to be any need to put effort into reading them.

Hi, I'm running Poser 7 on a Mac. Is there a method for batch conversion of the files in the Render Cache Folder? I've tried changing .tmp to another type, like .jpg, .png, etc., no luck. I tried Adobe Bridge and Graphic Converter, no luck. Any suggestions?
