Subject: Load Morph Target crashes Poser 6

Hi,

After modifying Aiko3 in the new Blender version 2.49, when i load the Morph Target into Poser 6 the application crashes.
Using Poser 6 on Mac PPC OS X 10.4.9

The .obj file is about 7MB, is this too large for Poser to handle ?

You need to give a few more details about the workflow you're using, especially things like the options used when importing and exporting to/from Blender and Poser etc.

Something sounds wrong.  Your morph target is about 7MB while the largest part of A3, her head, should only be about 4.2MB.

The size difference is most likely explained by (needlessly) exporting normals.
Some other export options may confuse Poser as well, e.g. the grouping has to be "Object Groups" not " Objects".
Getting the right import settings is also important.

I start out in Blender with importing the blAiko3.obj (found in Runtime-Geometries) with import settings as seen in this video http://paolociccone.com/tutorials/blender_poser_fbm.html

In Blender i modify things with scaling and moving polygons and then i export as explained in the video.

Next i open Poser and select the Aiko3 fig from the library, and then i load in the Morph Target... but Poser crashes when i do this :-(
The blAiko3.obj in the geometries folder is 8.2MB on my HD and the exported .obj from Blender is only 7MB. Maybe that 's the problem ?

You can only add the bodyparts one by one as morph targets or you have to use a Python script to create the morph targets for the whole body.

What are the time indexes where the import / export settings are given ?
Or post a summary.

Depends.
As your trying to make a full body morph, you'll need a script of some sort to handle applying it to the various body parts.

The first test is to load the OBJ epxorted from Blender into Poser and see it there are any obvious problems (incorrect normals can be ignored).

If you know what you're looking for, a visual inspection of the OBJ file will probably throw up what the problem is, otherwise you can also use the old fallback of running the OBJ through UVMapper to strip the normal and UV data before attempting to use it as a morph target source.

Where can i find such a script ?

nruddock, the time frame for the import settings start at 6:10 and the selected options are 'keep vert order' and 'poly groups'
The time frame for the export is at 12:59 and the selected options are 'selection only' - 'rotate x90' - 'UVs' - 'poly groups' and 'keep vert order'

If i import the obj in Poser (so not loaded as a morph target) it loads in just fine but i obviously do not have the separate groups no more (it is then become 1 object)

Do i have to export only parts of the body instead of the whole figure ?
Or maybe if i buy Morph Loader from DAZ will this work better then ?

If the bodyparts are not grouped seperately even a script will not be able to inject the morphs.
