Subject: Don't Panic on the Content Paradise Switch Over

Meshbox ( ) posted Tue, 02 June 2009 at 12:13 AM · edited Thu, 12 December 2024 at 12:30 PM

The CP team have put a lot of genuine effort and hard work into helping vendors switch over to the new site - but not everyone is completely switched on yet as they clean up their product listings to make them more attractive within the new design.

Meshbox Design and Mirye Software are both in process there, as are many others. Our catalogs are intact, but we want them to look right within the new site. In fact, we held back on a few releases so we wouldn't have to do it twice. If it looks like some products or vendors are missing, chances are they are just tidying up.

Best regards,

I just picked up 2 freebies to test out the cart and system.  Works fine.

But the product listing layout is ... less than enticing.  Can't see a candystore.  Might appeal to some shoppers; might not appeal to others.

I seen Vendor that are missing and actualy wont come back to CP..
And when i looked at the "become a vendor" pages i know why vendors leave..
I hope many of you have other outlets .. and hope you do well ..
Im just afraid CP is not going to be a help...

I personaly think the new store looks awfull unfriendly .
CP is not making anymore money on me that for sure...

Still, you have to applaud the hard work.  It must have taken some effort to make the worst 3D store on the internet even worse.

I took a quick look and don't think the overall look of the site is any worse. I'm not bothered by the color scheme.

They've made some bad choices for displaying products. Thumbnails without prices is a bad move for a storefront. Hovering the mouse over a thumbnail will bring up a larger image with a price. That kills an impulse buy on a low price. If I know an item is usually higher priced than what I'll normally pay, I won't bother putting the mouse on it to see if the price has changed.

The default sort (without an option to change the sorting order) seems to be oldest first. Anybody, who has been at a store a few times, wants to look at what's new when browsing categories.

Chris I agree with you that CP is so user unfriendly, reminds me when I did my first website and did not know what the freak I was doing.

The forum is supposed to be going in to "retro" mode (i.e. read-only for reference), but it's not working yet.

What was the point of eliminating the active forum? I can’t believe it was in order to save a few bucks. Were people saying troublesome things like 'Poser sucks?"

why dont they want to have a forum?

dont they want opinions?

12rounds ( ) posted Wed, 03 June 2009 at 5:06 AM

Is there a way to refine searches for the products?

At current there appears to be over 800 items in the "Clothing and textures" subsection, but I fail to see any way to restrict the searching to, say, for M4 products only.

SaintFox ( ) posted Wed, 03 June 2009 at 5:15 AM

Unfortunatly there's no forum at CP anymore... otherwise we could post problems and bugs found in the store there... To me the store looks as if it is not ready yet. I tried to buy a product I had in my wishlist (that's still intact in the old store - good thing!). It was a product by Billy-T so I tried to look up his name in the new store and: no Billy-T...
Then I looked up the name of the product and yes, after searching for just a part of it, it was found and I was able to put it in my cart and carry it home immediatly. So this works perfect as I am used to: Paying with Paypal, recieving a download link via eMail, downloading my purchase. The whole process was done within minutes.

BUT:
-the readme that is available online is not the one for the product but for a different product by Billy-T (not good - in fact very problematic!).
-by clicking the "Billy-T" link that goes with the promotional page I found no other products by him although there are several of them (searching by product name worked again).
-strange enough: at least three of his products list a co-merchant who was and is not listed in the old storefront. I know this co-merchant personally and just talked with him. I highly doubt that he teamed up with Billy-T (without telling me about it) 😉

No, I don't panic - it's just a 3d store moving over to a new storefront and not the end of the world.
But IMHO the store is not ready to replace the old one nor is it ready to be openend to the public.

And about the forums: Too bad! I think that there where many people who visited CP initially for the forums and then decided to browse the store as well.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

HI

I am not panicking over the move of the CP site-
BUT I will tell  you some artist and CP lost  a sale last night b/c i went to log in and buy a dress, ( not for me, for my Poser figure) and MY LOGIN NO LONGER WORKS ON THE NEW SITE
DUH! YOU  WOULD THINK  THAT would be a MAJOR POINT OF FOCUS when  they  MOVED THE SITE- DON'T DROP ANY LOGINS!!

SO because I refuse to create a new account , i will not be back  to  that site again.

BTW  is  it really difficult to make a user friendly attractive website that clearly shows you what's for sale?
I am not exactly sure, but isn't CP  like the "official" commercial storefront of SM or something?
I understand why people knock the site all the time if this is the case-
for the official commercial  storefront for all  things Poser content- man it always SUCKED

I noticed that some merchants there are still uploading or transferring their inventory across, and that takes time.

For instance, yesterday, I made a copy of my wishlist on the old server, and I went about adding those items manually to my new wishlist at the new server, from the new store inventory.  I lost about 50 per cent of my old wishlist items.

I checked today again, and found that some items which were not there yesterday have appeared today.

Of course, some merchants may never migrate to the new CP store.

I really do not enjoy the product catalogue as it is now.  Too much fancy tech-programing, pop-ups on rollovers, blah blah. Sometimes, less tech means more user-friendly.

I just went over there.  WOW is it UGLY!  The logins no longer work, and the new site was so ugly, I lacked interest to come up with another login.  The pop-ups were annoying beyond belief!  It is coldly unwelcoming and has the friendliness of a dentist's chair.  Really disappointing.  The stark white has a cooling effect on the psyche.  A warm color or even a dark color would be better for business, according to most web designers.  FIgures back up this.

If it were a SIX before, it has fallen to a THREE on a one to ten scale, in my book.  Keeping me from logging back in to make a purchase is the lowest of the low from a mercatile stand-point.

100% agree (see my comment 2 posts earlier -)

I will  travel far and wide to  find the item or a simliar item elsewhere, after discovering my VERY OLD ESTABLISHED  LOGIN  is now locked out.

it's kinda  like " FUCK YOU, SANTICOR!"

i have never ever in my life  seen a website switchover where they failed to carry the logins over.

WTF????

I would have said, it was like being slapped in the face, but I have to agree.  The people doing the site overhaul must be the spammers the SM has been bombarding us with  to get us to buy worthless crap with.

I don't like the store interface. It is slow, uninformative and irritating. The thumbnails are too small. The pop-ups are annoying, especially on my slow South African connection. Pop-up .....wait......look at blank square......wait....oh there is something about the item now. Are the prices a big secret or what? You have to wait to see the price. That is very off-putting.

Free items are down to less than a third of what there used to be. Perhaps some need to be put back, but this does not bode well.

What is so bizarre about the new site is when you go to look at any search in the full postage stamp (sticks tongue in cheek) view, new products, by a vendor, by a keyword, the sort order is oldest first with no way to alter, no way to jump to the last page to get to the new stuff. You have to hit next and next and next and next . Plus you have no idea without doing the math yourself if you have to flip through 2 pages or a 102 pages to get to the latest products offered. Plus when you do get to the last page and the postage stamp happens to fall exactly on the last even row, ie the page is full, you are still offered a next button which does nothing. Click, click, click, hmm is something wrong with my browser, is my connection dead all of a sudden, boy is this site slow today. You have no way of knowing where you are or even if you are at the end of your search.

Was not much of a fan of the old site which did not see a lot of my money as a result.  This is the most bizarre unthought out of how a customer would use it design I have ever seen. Yet somebody had to think they were doing the right thing with this design. I hope they are the one that pays the price with their job and not others at CP who could become victims of this design if their revenue stream suffers.

I dont find it that bad . but I may miss some stuff .

I type a vendor name in the search box and I get latest releases, then one click for all.

Popups I dont like on dialup, didnt know they were there. Place mouse on item , wait  minutes  for the price .
