Fake emails from banks and EBay, Amazon.com and other places like that always start, "Dear Preferred Customer" or the like.
My bank always addresses me personally. :)
I am always leery of emails to begin with and won't open or click anything unless I know where it comes from for sure. lol

As far as I know no bank Sends personal emails to customers worldwide if yours does then it would a world first. As for PayPal they don't send personal emails, they will ring you up if their is something fishy or wrong with your account. The Phishing criminals count on people thinking online banking and money transfers are safe mediums.
My advise is the following ignore all emails asking for personal information from Banks, Transfer Websites and the like. They dont do business this way. And if y0ou see any in you Inbox at Renderosity use the report spam button immediately as the ladies in the office will nuke it fast.
My bank does send me personal emails as does my credit card company - I can always tell which is real and which isn't

Hmm then what can I say my bank never sends emails to anyone personal or not, maybe thats why it has the less phishing scams than others. The ones I have seen lately are identical to a major bank here and it pulled in hundreds of people, so professional looking emails are the norm for phising criminals nowdays.
My bank sends me personalized e-mails, but they've only done it since I signed up for online banking, and I explicitly told them it would be okay to send such e-mails. I get a "rewards" statement each month (list of points I've accumulated for using my bank card) and occasional offers of new products.
I get similar e-mails from my credit card companies, usually reminding me to pay my bill.
As a precaution, I never click a link in one of these e-mails; I always go to the bank or card web site by typing the address into a new browser window.

Received two today in my inbox at Gmail, they are fake even thought they point to a paypal, address, its a phishing scam, please note PAYPAL never asks for personal info, creditcard numbers or passwords, if you receive it at gmail, click the top little arrow on the right of the email and report it as Phishing.
This has been a public service announcement for all.
Please note I am a volunteer that reports malware and phishing daily.
