Subject: Extended Download Service *lol*

Obviously CP becomes nuts. If you buy something there you have 30 days to download and then it's gone. If you want to have your download available for the next two years, you have to purchase the "Extended Download Service". This Item is a default item in the shopping cart and has to be deleted manually.

New behaviour in the poser dom :(

Let the buyer beware!

You had to send back the card if you did NOT want the book. 👎

I forget the actual term for that type of thing. But cable companies are famous for doing that. I remember some years ago several new channels were added to the cable lineup and we were given a preview for a period of time.  If you didn't want to be billed for the channels at the end of the preview you have to call the cable company and tell them that you didn't want the additional channels and they would turn off your access to them.

Lots of people got stung with that and ended up being charged for something they didn't want.  Now I think that's actually an illegal practice, at least where I live. Not sure how that applies to the internet though.

Maybe they don't realize that it's on by default and will make the appropriate change in their programming? Mistakes do happen :)

Don't people know how to back up their files? I can't imagine how CP could sell the Extended Download Service without resorting to trickery.

I wish Poser hadn't been purchased by a company that is completely clueless when it comes to CG software. Website design obviously isn't one of Smith Micro's strengths, nor is customer relations, apparently.

How can the future be bright when Poser is in the clutches of these penny-pinching stockjobbers?

I didn't buy there often before, but they seem to just keep getting more and more unfriendly as the years pass. I won't buy from them at all in the future. Who knows what they will do next to inconvenience us?

Why give something away free when you can charge money for it? :)

I do find it amusing that it shows up automatically for freebie downloads.

Y'know.. to protect your investment and all... :)
