Subject: Bizarre Problem...Parts of V4 Disappear?

I'm working on some fan art of Linda Carter as Wonder Woman and noticed that parts of her have started to disappeared. The chest and neck are gone. They are not turned off, and they do not have any transparency applied. Does anyone have any ideas about what might have happened here? I have loaded a lot of morphs into V4, but that's about it.

Thanks

Mark

Do they come back if you remove the outfit?

I tried deleting everything but V4 than saved the file and reloaded it. Her chest and neck are still missing or invisible. I can choose them as a body part and the commands for them like twist and bend still work. Thanks for the idea.

Check your scene file (using wordpad.), and compare F4s body parts with the corresponding parts in a second V4 (either in the same scene or another.) I've found that sometimes Poser leaves out the geometries of one of the body parts.

A quick and dirty way of preserving your morph dials is to load a second V4 into the scene, inject the morphs, and then copy and paste from the defective one.

Most likely suspects would be a bad or overapplied morph(form) or some translation applied.

An inspection of those actors in the CR2 should tell you what's happened.
Otherwise you can export the problem body parts as an OBJ, and inspect that (load it into Poser or a modelling program or a text editor).

Okay thanks for the ideas. I tried kicking out an obj of the invisible parts and then of the whole figure and the invisible parts are not there. It's strange that I can identify them in Poser and twist them or bend them and see the body act like they are there.  I'm looking thru the scene file now to see what's missing, but it's a lot of greek to me....

Thanks

I've had this problem with Mike 4. Usually the hip disappears, sometimes abdomen, on one memorable occasion his chest vanished as well.

I've found it works to open the character's cr2 - from the figures library - and edit it to replace the missing lines in the invisible body part by copying and pasting from a part. that isn't invisible. And changing the actor name of course. If you look in the cr2 you'll see what I mean - it's obvious in the list of actors that some have a couple of lines with Geom in it and some have it missing.

Of course, you shouldn't  have to do any of this - and it doesn't explain what's wrong. I only get it when I use characters to which I've applied 3rd party morphs, not strictly Daz ones. Not sure if this is the reason or not, need to investigate it further :)

I sometomes have the same problem EXPORTING some daz figures to an obj.
belive that it has to be with corrupt files, since cr2 and obj files are just plain text is easy for them to corrupt. I'm only especulating here but, to be on the safe side I make backups of those files
also remember to DEFRAG your HD!!!!!!!!!!!
it's the first source of problems and the solution of some...

hoped to help

Mark,

That is an Awesome face morph!  If you did it yourself, I hope you make it available.

I know this problem. Here's a thread about it with a fix that worked for me:
