a decreased artistic input from me...well that's due to the fact that on the 17th June my best friend of the last 14 years passed away in the night. Most of you all have never met Blue so I'm posting a photo here so you'll know what had kept me calm-ish during my time working here so far. I do hope my temper stays gone as little Blue was the only thing that ever modified that and she's gone. She left in the night sleeping by the dude she loved the most so it's only shitty for me...that said, here's her pic

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Oh, my... My condolences to you. She is a very lovely dog and am sure by now she's over the rainbow bridge, waiting for her special person to come and play with her, eternally.  All my best wishes to you and yours on this sad occasion.

Sorry for your loss, Bobby. I too am a dog lover with 2 indispensible friends that have kept me sane since my wife passed for some 10 years now.
I wil dearly miss them when their time to leave comes a-callin'.

Maybe a new "orphan" might be beneficial for both of you.

Good luck.

So sorry to hear of your loss! I agree that after a period of proper mourning you might gain benefit from adopting a new pet. I for one need to have an animal around me, helps me to feel more human and connected with the natural world. Best wishes!

Sorry to hear of your loss Bobby. I have an idea of how you feel. When my siamese cat of 19 years passed away it was hard for me too. She helped me through some rough times by just being there as I'm sure Blue did the same for you too.

orbital ( ) posted Mon, 22 June 2009 at 12:34 PM

Sorry to hear that big guy. The loss of a pet can be one of the hardest things to deal with and the saddest. It's a small comfort, but at least you gave her the best life she could have wished for. Chin up pal.

My condolences to you as well Bobby. I have several pets, and they are like my kids, so I know how devastating losing one can be.

She's still there and will always remain in your heart, Bobby.  Glad to hear she gave you so many great years of loyal companionship.

She looks like a beautiful gentle lady, and I know you miss her very much.

It's much too soon to talk of a new dog, but if later you do begin to think of it, remember that there are always older animals in need of a friend, who have much less chance of finding a home than young cute puppies.

But for now if you have any other pics of Blue it would be great to see them.

Hang in there, dude.  I understand the attachment.  Time will heal a broken heart.

Allow me to say thanks in one of the periods I can handle being in my friendless house. Gotta go out lots as everything is imbued with essence of Blue as we were together so long and this is such a small house. All the kind words and condolences mean a lot and go a long way to helping me get over this sad event. I will be having a small funereal with 5 ot 6 of her and my closest friends in case I can't actually lower her into the grave I'm digging, on Friday.. ...

I'm sorry Bobby for your loss, and wanted to let you know that there are people who understand the grief and loss.

Here is something that might help a little.

NOTE FROM THE BRIDGE
author unknown

To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."

God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night
the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry,
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now,
than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody
who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...
"My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented...
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along
I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street
with me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go...
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
you're coming here to me.

Bobby,

So sorry to hear about your loss. It seems we have them for so short a time. It never seems fair when they are gone. I have two black Scotties and a little black cat. They bring me so much joy and make me crazy at the same time. I'm sure Blue did the same for you.

It seems they give us so much, and all they ask for is a bowl of food and water, a good walk or play and a scratch behind the ear.

I morn your loss.
Take care.

Hey Bobby !!
I grieve with you - we don't know how long we have in this world and only the one who made us all decides when it's time for us to go Just know it meets his perfect purpose to take her at this time and you can only know his will if he reveals it to you. As long as I long for my Angela (I thnk this will be along one),  I will pray  for you and your memory of your Blue Girl.

Thanks again for the words of peace...they do mean so much. I'ts 3 weeks this morning since she slipped away and just yesterday her remains returned, in a lovely black urn, from the crematorium. As this week is Winnipeg Folk Festival week and all her friends but me and 2 others will be at the festival, I am waiting till next week to have her wake/farewell gathering. There is a surprisingly large contingent amongst my friends who wish to be there so I feel it's best to wait till they can. She was much loved in my community as well as in my heart. Part will go in a grave I've dug for her  under a favorite tree, some ashes will be scattered on my Mom's grave and 1/3 are being saved to mix with my ashes when the time comes for me.. ..... ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
