I realize there's a chance that this might be humorous. However, in this forum there are one or two people you might be insulting either intentionally or indirectly. I am one of them, having spent a great deal of time trying to perfect a Sarah Michelle Gellar Character for Victoria. I have posted a render of her in this very forum recently. There are two other members who have done SMG. One, of yore, is Mason (I am pretty sure) and the other more recent is DuaneMoody with "Slaybelle" (former and latter for P4Nudewoman). So, if your intent was to insult at least one of us three then congratulations, I am insulted. I cannot speak for the others. If it wasn't your intention to insult me or the others, well, you did anyway. Have a great night. -WTB
Jeez, William, chill out. Unless SMG (whoever this person is, can someone please enlighten me?) is a close relative or your current girlfriend, then I gather she's someone in the public spotlight, and therefore not priviledged property. You do not own Sarah, nor does Duane, nor do I, nor does anyone else, except perhaps her agent -- and to somehow now "claim" her as grounds for an insult? Jeez, man, you've hanging around in here for too long. Get some fresh air. Go walk around the real world for a while, then come back to this with some much-needed perspective, okay?
I've said my peace. I find it offensive. I do not claim to own anything except for the hard work and attention to detail I put into my characters. Some people don't respect that. That's your right as much as it's my right to tell you to Piss off, atthisstage. Maybe you'd like your work mocked? I'll be off looking for YOUR contributions... -WTB
I still think it's hilarious. I almost sprayed coffee across my monitor laughing when the images came up. ;] Nice job of character design, btw.
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
I know I shouldn't say anything, other than that's pretty funny and a neat character actually, but come on. [rant] "Maybe you'd like your work mocked? I'll be off looking for YOUR contributions..." Where does the guy say he's making fun of anyone's work? Do you presume to know his thoughts? Did he send you a private message full of disparaging remarks about your work? And what of atthisstage? Time to mock their work because they made a coherent, lucid statement, aside from the somewhat snippy ending? If this is the case, I guess we shouldn't attempt to make a joke or try to create a face/person someone else has already created for fear of upsetting them. I've seen various SMG knockoffs in Poser and used one or two and I appreciate the work that went into them. But I can still laugh about it. Hell, I thought you were joking until you posted a second time to this thread.... Oh, just to save time, don't look for anything by me in the freestuff or marketplace. I don't have good enough abilities to have items in either place, but feel free to insult the few images I have in my gallery before they get rotated out. [/rant] Anyhow, again, I think it's cool egaeus. :)
Sarah Michelle Geller is the leading character in the television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Currently, it is a very popular show that crosses the age demographics from preteens to 40+ adults. SMGeller is also an excellent actress with a wide range. If you've seen the recent remake of Age of Innocence called, "Cruel Intentions", then watch a Buffy episode, you'll see what I mean. I think I'm the latest person to post something to the forum asking for help, and was hurt by this comment originally. The ownership of the image was not the question, but rather the unkind, petty thought that the only reason to create a popular female character is to pose her in some torid sex scene. That's a very belittling remark in general for those of us who enjoy recreating characters of our favorite shows. I tried to overcome the hurt by posting my own humorous remark. Hope this clears up the confusion for atthisstage, and gives others food for thought. TygerCub
Tyger: thanks for the info. I've actually seen the show a couple of times and never made the connection till you mentioned it now. I'll have to take a look at "Cruel Intentions" and see what this girl can do when she's not offing evil people. Insofar as the "hot monkey love" statement in the original post... well, let's face it, Tyger: that seems to be one of the community's main obsessions around here. I've only been on Renderosity a short while, and it amazes me how much thinly-veiled (or not so thinly) porno is passed off as "art" in here. You'd think some of these people never had a real date a day in their lives. And I think our buddy Mike was simply playing on that particular aspect without saying he actually subscribed to it. I could be wrong, but it's a relatively safe assumption. And William: no snippiness, just truth. When you start acting like you own something that you just don't, then it's time to take a little respite. And the BS about the "well, where're your freeware contributions"? That's just being childish, bud. Grow up.
You will find work of mine in Free Stuff -- Adam the Anti-Dork, a head morph named Ada and a Betty and Veronica figure (as well as a cheerleader outfit for them) that someone has used at Renderotica to create a series of bondage images. I'm very proud of my contributions to both the Poser and the bondage community. I also have several characters in the Marketplace. I don't like that people may have been offended, but have come to the conclusion that no matter what I say on the Internet someone will be offended by it. I would think the only person who would be offended would be someone who did indeed create a Sarah Michelle Gellar for hot monkey love pictures. And why would it be any less work to create a hot monkey love Sarah? The choice of Sarah Michelle Gellar was arbitrary because she's popular for people to try to recreate (hers is one of the heads people usually stick on naked bodies. If you created a Darth Vader and I posted the same gag (less funny of course with Darth) that said I wanted to use Darth for hot monkey love, would you be offended? This Poser character, BTW, was created with Vicky 2 (yes--it's a woman!). I'll post it as a single head morph OBJ if anyone wants to have it. Mike
Hot monkey love with DarthVader?!?!?! Eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww! Now a cute female wookie on the other hand... Hrmmm... making wookie? ;]
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
Thanks, atthisstage. ;] Nice thing about horrid puns online is you don't have to run for your life from outraged friends afterwards. grin

The morph target does look cool. I don't find issue with anyone who thought this was funny. I said upfront that I could see that it's humorous. Honestly, I got offended before the "Hot Monkey Love" comment. The offense came from the image itself. I wondered if egaeus thought my rendition was so bad as to inspire this monstrous satire. This came after I spent an entire day off trying to re-create Sarah from the ground up and having much failure and frustration. Then I thought "Why Sarah?" To those of us who appreciate her, she's been a very wonderful actress and she hasn't abandoned her fans the way most stars do when they get famous. She has stuck with her show when she could probably migrate to the big screen with much success. To those who love "Buffy" we must give props to Sarah for standing by the show. Certainly her physical beauty does not have universal appeal, but IMO that is what makes her extra special. "Monkey Love" commentary was therefore not even the icing on the cake, but the thin line of colored icing that says "Happy Birthday". Anyway, I never said it was the end of the world, only that I, for one, was offended. You're always going to offend someone, tis true. From your words I can see it was unintentional so handshakes all around then and render on, my friend :) -WTB
No, I won't. See, you posted your opinion against my personal feelings. You decided that it was your duty to judge my sentiments, attack my personal life and other deplorable behaviour simply because I expressed offense taken against someone ELSE. Furthermore, your lack of items suggest that you do not know the blood sweat and tears that go into trying to create something for poser and do it as close to perfection as possible. You could not, then, logically know what it is like to see something like this that is analogous to said work and wonder if it was a subversive personal attack. It felt like one. You sir, add insult to injury and have no demonstratable context from which to base your opinions nor do you possess a shred of insight into my personal life to make judgements against my character. Furthermore, the idea of one having "No Life" is subjective. Let's have a look: I don't go out much. When I'm not working I'm either toying around with Poser, making music (www.songramp.com), answering email, checking the forums or just plain watching TV. I do not have a girlfriend, I don't drink or do drugs, so parties hold little interest for me. Joe Pompous might drive a convertible, date a supermodel, chair the board of a major corporation and spend each and every night going to parties. Who has a "Life"? I might be completely immersed in inner peace and Joe might just be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The truth is probably somewhere in between. So who's to judge? YOU??? What do YOU do that is so bloody important that you have this so-called "Life"? As for my statement "I don't find issue..." I don't. If you find the initial post funny, I stand by your right to enjoy it and I can see why a person would. However, your comments regarding my feelings on it are vapid and unseemly and if any apology is due here, it is on your side. -WTB
Jeeze. I've got demonstrateable content. Get over it. Since when does someone have to have freestuff, store items or gallery postings to be able to post an opinion around here? I'm sure KateTheShrew is laughing herself sick.

William: "I don't go out much" Well, there's the first clue. It's one thing to enjoy this stuff as a hobby or as an avocation. It's quite another when it so takes over your life that you can't distinguish RL from online life. William: "Furthermore, your lack of items suggest that you do not know the blood sweat and tears that go into trying to create something for poser." I had no idea that that was the barometer for having a say on the boards. Thanks for enlightening me. I'm sure all of us are so very glad to have that little matter cleared up. Nevertheless, don't worry, I'll be posting my own work soon enough, when I feel the work is ready for that kind of presentation. And I'll be happy to let you know personally when I do. William: "I might be completely immersed in inner peace" Based on your posts, I sorta doubt it, but anyway... William: "So who's to judge? YOU???" You know, if it waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are, it's a duck. William: "What do YOU do that is so bloody important that you have this so-called "Life"?" I had no idea my life (or my work) would hold such fascination for you. But since you asked: When not working as a professional set designer (which means a lot of travel, something I enjoy, to places as varied as little hamlets in southwest Spain to New York City), I not only work on my skills in four or five 3D programs but maintain a real life outside the computer as well. I'm happily involved with someone I can't imagine living without, occasionally ride in the local rodeo circuit in rough stock events, go out for the odd karaoke night with friends -- in general, William, things that probably don't appeal to you very much... and that's okay with me. We all make our own choices in life, and we all wind up taking personal responsibility for those choices. So when you come in here and tell everyone how insulted you are by the image at the top of the page, work that you have no stake in nor were you personally involved in its creation, don't be surprised if someone takes you to task for your egocentricity. The world does not revolve around you and your work, and I doubt anyone here feels that he or she has to clear what they do with you before posting it to the boards. I know, it's a cruel world sometimes.
atthisstage, I just went to your site and I must say your set designs are wonderful :) Are you going to design any stage props for poser? Also I would love to have the morph for the image at the top of this page, he she would make a great character! Do you remember the show Happy Days? Remember Al the guy that had the drive in? That image kinda looks like him! Nice work!

Oh my god -- he does look like Al!!! Of course, it's based on Vicky, so I guess I should say she looks like Al! And thanks for the nice words about the work, Pokey. I'm working on props, but since I work in a different 3D environment from one that creates obj files (I use Bryce for my stage designs), I'm trying to learn modelling all over again from that perspective. The ones I've done are pretty plain jane simple (Thank God the theatre doesn't like things too complicated...), but I'm hoping to be able to create scenes and environments that are on par with the clothing generated at PoserWorld -- that's my barometer.
Your Welcome :)

William: I spent the better part of eight or nine hours on SlayBelle, have little or no modesty about how good it looks (with Nod's "Sarah" tex which was based off Smeg's face), and even I think this is freaking hilarious. It's impossible to take offense, and IMHO this forum needs this kind of steam-releasing levity from time to time (search the forum for the phrase "celine dion" and you'll see what I mean). My only gripe is that I nearly needed another pair of shorts when I saw the picture. Even if someone had posted a comment that my work looks about as close as Ms. Beautiful above, my work speaks for itself. This chick makes Shrek look like Pierce Brosnan. Basil Wolverton would be proud, or jealous, I can't tell which.
