Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
I wish poser had a FAT inector that you could inject to anyplace in the body. Usually dials don't work. Well at least not in DAZ figures dials i've seen.
For example there is one overweight Dial that came with the Body morphs in my v3 package thatyou can add to V3. It makes her fat but there is never a double chin. There is no double chin at all. That doesn't make sense.
so from tebob's and hborre's answer I understand that there is nothing out of the box,
but I understand that this could be achieved with morph targets.
Is it correct that I would have to create a morph target for each and every figure, and that if I want it to be realistic (i.e. doublechin), then it requires high modelling skills ?
Is it possible to pay somebody to do that ?
@chipsyann - okay, yes, that's what I would like to do, but how ?
Can you give me a hint, if can be done otherwise than with morph targets ?

Apollo Maximus (free) makes a great fat guy, and lots of other characters, too. He comes with an incredible number of morphs. I just made this guy in 10 minutes, spinning dials.Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. Out of all the figures that accept fat values, Apollo is the best.
Even if you try and create FatMorphs in Zbrush the morphs are dependant on the topology and poly count of the base figure....and I've tried doing this with many figures.
Just talking Fatness here, Apollo wins hands down.
Comitted to excellence through art.
@ raven: I am not so sure about those pics you show. yes, the butt and the stomach are fat, but the face is still thin. it doesn't make sense.
okay regarding the others, I guess I just have to look for some additional poser content,
such as additional figures. I assume I can find "Michael 4" and other figures here and on contentparadise.com ?
The link for Apollo Maximus is provided, thanks for that, I'll have a look at it.
The base figure Michael 4 is free but the morphs to make changes to his body must be purchased.
Apollo's morphs are free.

@bagginsbill, the hint with apollo maximus was GREAT!

Contains in this figure package is everything a 3D artist, using Poser or Daz Studio software, will need to create hundreds of unique and interesting human and non human characters of various shapes, weights, ethnicities, genders, and ages. Unlike any other 3D freebie ever offered, Apollo Maximus represents the highest level of quality and is a complete 3D human figure solution absolutely free.
This is exactly what I need.
So this is for a male figure,
is there a similar female figure ?

I can't think of an outstanding free female on par with Apollo. However, there is one being developed - Antonia. A bunch of people are working on this figure. She will bend with realism like no other Poser figure ever has. There are very talented artists working together on morphs, poses, materials, textures, and clothing. But it's way early yet, and everybody is doing this in their spare time.
Apollo is a magnificent achievement that took thousands of hours to accomplish. I expect that when Antonia has that many many hours behind her, she'll be equally impressive.

can I contribute somehow ? I am currently in the development status of a new project, where I quickly need to be able to "click together" a 3D figure that looks somewhat like a real life human.
I believe that Poser is the right software to do this. Of course there are tons of other 3D software modellers, but I don't want to start from zero for each new 3D figure.
That's why only Poser, Daz and/or Quidam is an option, since the word "quickly click together" is the magic phrase.
At this stage I think that Poser with a figure like Apollo and then possibly Antonia it's definitely the way to go.
The downside of most Poser/Daz figures is that when morphed very large they tend not to bend so well. I wish it were possible to make the rigging adapt with larger shapes, a bit like how JCM's work.

On the subject of Apollo, I think one of the really unique things about him is the sheer number of scaling options there are alongside the morphs, allowing greater control over character creation. I sometimes wish his mesh had been slightly more detailed in certain areas though, or that someone would make a blow-out displacement map for a more defined muscular look.

Hi all,
I am an absolute newbie to Poser, I have been playing with it now for a few hours and I love the possibility to pose the figures, open their mouth and so on.
But I am missing one feature:
Is it possible to make one of the standard figures gain weight?
Like making a character a 'fat' face and body and the same time, with a simple slider,
like I can open the mouth with one of the sliders ?
Maybe this feature doesn't exist, or I am simply missing it ?
