Subject: What camera Aside From MAIN CAM, can i use to folllow a Character/Prop?

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 26 June 2009 at 10:43 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:33 PM

I want to have my main camera stay in one place cause i'll be coming back to the same place in other shots. But then i want one camera to follow my character.

The Face cam would do the job, except that Face Jumps up and down cause it is based on head movement. i  want one that keeps steady.

I could just do it with Main cam, parent the main cam to the Character or object. That works, i know cause i have done it. BUT what i'm trying to do is set up cams to do different things and i don't want to move the main camera out of position.

Thanks

Set camera dots for future use.

Most cameras can "point at" any actor. This can be especially useful for the Dolly camera. You can animate the position of the camera (or leave it stationary) and if it is set to "point at" some actor, such as a figure's chest or neck, it will always point there. However, if the figure is bobbing up and down, the camera will do that, too, as far as pointing, though it won't actually move up and down.

Another solution is to place a prop in the scene and have the camera point at the prop, tracking it. Then you animate the position of the target prop to smoothly change the camera direction. You can let the prop movement lag the character movement easily this way.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

You can create new cameras either Rotating (like the Main camera) or Dolly

The Aux Camera works exactly the same as the Main Camera.

You could try my Tracker Cam. It can track a figure without bouncing (but does not work on props). Or you could try ockham's ** SteadiCam**.
