They're unveiling Poser8 at Siggraph so I'd say some point in  September for a release.

$99! I paid $145 for P7 just a few weeks ago using one of those shopping search sites. That was still way cheaper than buying direct from the Smith Micro site, they wanted $249. How is it that authorized outlets can sell it cheaper tham SM themselves?

If it was a boxed copy, then they're probably remaindering the last of their stock.

i would get Poser 8 but before i do that, i need to keep studying my poser stuff and get better at it. AND i need to get a new Mac computer.

I do hope they change that clunky interface to something more modern. I use Poser 7,
D/S 2 and 3, Modo, and Vue 6, and the Poser interface STILL pisses me off, despite
being with Poser since version 3. Just as an example, the mouse scroll wheel zooms
in the viewport of every app I use EXCEPT Poser. I say to modernize the interface and
some better lighting options would go a long way to making Poser 8 a slamdunk.
I never invested in Poser Pro because there were not enough enhancements to
justify the price since I had Poser 7 already. Plus I think (not sure here) that Pro
still has that archaic interface. SIGH. Hopefully they'll get it right this time, but so
far, D/S 3 Advanced is my prefered scene setup tool.
