I have been trying to access the microsoft update web page and it is soooo sloooow, eventually gets to the page where it is checking your software and just seems to hang there.  Anyone else had this problem?

Cheers

Yes I have and I don't bother with it. I have complained numerous times to them and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears or blinded eyes over there.  They are sure high and mighty over there... LOL

Yeah, they blow.  I went on line with my laptop yesterday and uploaded a ton of "critical" Vista updates.  When it installed and final step was "creating a new restore point", it hosed up.  It sat there for about 20 min.  I finally had to restart and now I can't even restore to previous restore points.

So far I haven't seen any other flaky effects.  Keeping my fingers crossed, otherwise it is rebuild time.   Micro for brains MS is the pits.

I use XP pro on my graphics machine

XP Pro for me too, the desktop and the lap . 6.0 am here and just tried again ,no change.  Another thing that gets up my nose is the way MS keep pushing stuff in your face like IE8, I said no to it the 1st notification surely that should be enough instead of getting it shoved at you every time you boot up.

I have Win XP Pro. Never bothered with Vista and am glad that I didn't. If Window 7 (ubunhata ?) comes out and seems stable enough for 4 years without breaking and has enough products supporting it, including the graphic softwares, I MIGHT consider getting it. Otherwise.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO til my dying breath.

Maybe the bandwidth is being allocated to Michael Jacksons Memorial.

As Angela would say "Just let him go!!!" meanwhile since she's no on the computer right now  it seems like a logical time to check up the ms-updates page. thanks for the suggestion.
