Those make great reference photos for modeling some nasty sea monsters.

Thanx for the link, love it, it's even featuring my favourite colossal squid.... :)

I've been up close and personal to a couple of those when diving, the Ocean Sun fish for example, remarkable creature.
There's some really great things to see down there, and some you wouldn't want to either, thankfully they tend to stay a lot deeper than I go! [LOL].

Yea the blue ringed one is a particularly nasty critter, very poisonous!

I dived on the barrier reef 2 or 3 years ago, very disappointing!

Some of the best diving is the red sea in Egypt, we've [Wife] dived mostly in the Caribbean and Florida keys.

If you want to do it, go for it, it's really not that difficult and you don't need to be a good swimmer, there's virtually no swimming involved.
There is a swim test but it's easy if you do the PADI course, BSAC is a lot harder, I wouldn't have passed the BSAC swim test but I did pass the PADI one.

Health's not up to it no more bud :)
but would have loved to have.
heard the coral reefs in the Red Sea are gorgeous, glad ye hand fun! :)

saw a bit on a TV program of some nutters diving in the Corryvreckan whirlpool off Scotland, yikes! :P
they get about 10 minutes before the tide turns and they get FUBARed.
interesting how they showed bits where the vortexes have ground rocks deep into holes in the sea floor.

A friend of mine regularly goes up to Scotland to dive on the WW2 wrecks at Scapa Flow. Myself I tend to not do too much here, too bloody cold even in a dry suit! [LOL].

The best thing though is the atmosphere, the silence, the only thing you can hear is your own breathing, it's kind of surreal, hard to explain unless you've experienced it!
Going out over cliffs with 1000 Ft drop offs and getting the strangest sensation that you're going to fall [LOL], it's a strange but beautiful world down there, I love it!

Did you see this one in my gallery, that's me on the barrier reef with a Napoleon Wrasse, about 5 feet in length, big but really gentle!

I like this thread!  As Fixer said, it's bloody cold  here , that's why I would never swim with basking shark in Cornwall :(    :) but there are still some Whale sharks in Belize.....
