Sparkyworld is extremely chuffed to announce the following items will be included within Poser 8.

All these are brand new 100% original designs, and have never been seen anywhere else before. Created and textured by Mr Sparky rigging by John from VP.

First up, you have the 4-in-1 sci-fi room set. These themed rooms, Loading bay, Medlab, CommandLab and Airlock can be used invidually or joined together to form a 4 room set. Packed with stacks of modelled features, special care has been taken with the UVmapping to ensure things such as signs are readable even with closeup shots.

These are the rooms you can see at the new poser 8 site and in the posts made by BagginsBill.

Next up, is the Battle Bobs. Human sized robots with anti-gravity floaters and loads of spikey bits.

Perfect for Mech-War artwork or futuristic gameshows. The Bobs's come tooled up with a steel-splitting axe and power drill plus 3 texture sets.

Finally heres some portable transportation for your favourite character. Despite looking slighlty knackered, theres no need to light the blue touch paper, just hit the button and the JetPack will send you skywards in seconds. Plus theres a HeliPack, with spinning rotors, for sending your cyber-soldiers into battle.

Thanks everyone!

*Were these renders done in Poser 8?

  • Nope. A mix of Vue for the rooms and Bob's plus Poser 4 Pro Pack for the others.

I was offered the chance to beta test P8 but declined it. My approach is theres not many industries where people are allowed to contribute stuff, especially to the flagship product and I figured my time would be better spent creating some brand new content for it..

You rock, you rock, you rock!

When I found these I was stoked. The grunge, the shapes, the usability - perfect.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Awesome work, Mr Sparky!!  :)  Thanks for previewing some of what we're getting :)  I love that they fit together.  The robot is stellar :)  I love me some grungy "futuristic" stuff :)

Thanks everyone ...yer making me blush :)

Also thanks to DR for a question about the rooms.

I know people prefer complete sets rather than 'construction kit'. So I made sure to create them as complete single figures.

The rooms also have opening doors, ceilings which can hidden with show/hide poses, plus the bulbs has a seperate material so the artist make make them 'glow' if needed.

Theres also some easy to use templates.

Incredible! Thank you for making such detailed and beautifully textured models.  I wonder what other goodies are included in the other P8 content libraries :)

Quote - When is Poser 8's release date?

I doubt it will be before SigGraph.

mrsparky ( ) posted Sat, 25 July 2009 at 4:36 PM

The offical site says sigraph - and thats not that far away. Less than 2 weeks.

Joel and Frank - I'll ask CP what the situ is on this.

I know after Poser 7 some content was avaliable at CP. But I worked on  - like the Banshee and the skid steer loader  - was never sold or given away.  Maybe it's down to the artists preference - I just dont know.

If it's possible to make these as freebies then I will - but I will respect CP's wishes above anything else.

Though don't be dissapointed as theres a new store/project coming up soon where you'll be able to get my stuff from $1 :)

I normally skip a version or two of software before buying an upgrade, but a lot more content like this might convince me to break the habit.

*When do you think Poser 8 upgrade will be released?

*I know as much as you do - from the offical Poser 8 site it says Sigraph - 3rd to the 7th of August. So I guess thats when.

I wonder if you can get this stuff outside Poser 8. I'm looking more towards Daz Studio 3 Advanced right now. As it's a 64 bit Application, and so far as I know Poser 8 is not a full 64 bit app. I'm in the process of getting a 64 bit pc, etc, etc.

JOELGLAINE ( ) posted Mon, 27 July 2009 at 1:38 AM

64 bit IS the future.  The next jup up to 128 bit is already in the pipeline. Intel is working on it right now.  If Poser 8 isn't 64 bit, when will they make one?  I'm not a big fan of DAZ 3, but it's on the edge.  Poser 8 isn't if it isn't 64 bit.  I barely have 32 bits to rub together, so I'm WAY behind the curve. At least I'm not running WIndows 3.12 anymore!

  • I'll be asking CP about this for everyone.

Re the 64 bit thing - I'm not fussed either way. It's not only the cost of buying the lastest piece of hardware. It's often more about getting that to work with the programmes I've spent a lot of time learning to use.

I've not seen windows 7 yet, but I'd suspect thats like vista and a lot of the stuff - both software and hardware - I've got won't work on it.

don't be so sure. Software wise I've yet to find anything that won't run on it. as to hardware, I've got it running on a Sempron 2400 2ghz machine right here with no problems.

I've had only 2 bits of hardware fail to be supported - 1 11year old Soundblaster 1024Live! (not surprising) and 1 ATI X1300 Radeon (that was for direct W7 drivers (ATI have dropped support for the card) - the Vista drivers tho worked.)

oh and I've actually had software that won't work on Vista work fine on Windows7!

ah. gotchca now. Yes these figures and props rotate correctly in the centre of the screen and don't have that annoying habit of rotating on the outside of  the scene.

Thats because I didn't  attempt to rig them but got an expert - the erstwhile John from VP - to do it :)
