Subject: Looking for a model

Just wondering if there's a free model of an octopus for poser anywhere out there. I need one for my current project. Doesn't even have to be that good, as long as I can manipulate the tentacles.

Do you have poser 7?  There is one that came with it in the figures but you'll have to look around your library to find it.

WARK!

No, I have Poser 5. Never seen the real need to update, nor can I afford to, as I use it to model figures which I then export to Max.

Here's a nice one over at TurboSquid.
Going very cheep at $ 240.00 for a 3.3MB model.
Wonder how many they've sold?

Thanks. I found a couple. I think I'll have my client buy the Daz octopus, since it isn't terribly expensive. He'll go for that. No way he would have gone for the 240 dollar one.

Daz just reduced the older models. Their octopus is now only $2.40 U.S. Can't beat that other than free...lol. The new prices on the older models are permanent.

It's the only octo I could find otherwise that you could actually do anything with.

Yes, and my client, for some reason, doesn't want to get it because he would have to join Daz to get the reduced price. Sheesh, clients.

Content Paradise used to be the place for 'critters'. I think I remember seeing one there, but I haven't been there much lately.

None of them free, though. Hell, I'm waiting to see if I get SSI, I can't afford anything. And I need a poseable. The client being reluctant bothers me because this isn't just for a one time use but for multiple images.

If you could bodge an octopus body by maybe using an elongated sphere, or even a static octopus model, could you then use the poseable tentacles (attached link)  by Paul Leatham in the freestuff?

bonestructure ( ) posted Wed, 29 July 2009 at 10:20 AM

I have those tentacles, actually, and that's probably what I'll have to do. I was just hoping to get something where the transition between the tentacles and the body would be smoother. I'm terrible at organic modeling. Which is pretty much why i use Poser for that stuff.
