Subject: Anyone likes to update ss3 magellan?

The SS3 Magelan is an absolutly "wow" spaceship ,but I am not quite hapypy with its materials.Renderings allways look like old P4 or P3 times-like Poser Stoneage.I think it would be great if someone could create new material, texture and lightsets.I have often tried myself but it simply looked ahem... "unsatisfying" .I'm afraid I am not that skilled enough, so I have to ask for it .

I'll take a crack at materials.

My first suggestion, though would be to find Bantha's script that applies my gamma-correcting shader and see what that does.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Herrrrk - I thought you were talking about a freebie. This prop is $150. LOL

You're on your own.

Wow! That's quite a markup from the $1.99 I paid for it in 2005 at Content Paradise!

You probably want to check with them to be sure, but if I'm following the PoserWorks license agreement correctly, a set of UV maps generated from the source files and renders of the object without textures should constitute derivative works under item number 4.

It should be allowed, therefore, to generate the UV maps (with UV Mapper or a modeling program, say) and reference images to supply to a third party for the purpose of generating new materials.

I'm not a lawyer, but I did play one on stage once. 😄

I'm sure I have this somewhere, though it's an awkwardly large model.

Something to check on is how any bump-mapping is done. The "Gradient Bump" option only works when you use the P4 shading engine, in the later versions of Poser. If you have bump-mapping connected to the Gradient Bump, it will be worth changing that the the ordinary Bump input, and seeing what happens.

This was all a long time ago, and P4-compatible materials can do some odd things in P5 and later. From what I've seen, DAZ Studio does an imperfect job of converting materials settings, too.

Awkward isn't the half of it. Back when I bought it I was never able to load the whole thing into one scene. I had to load it part by part and just use the parts I needed for a particular scene. I haven't tried now that I have GIG's of RAM and a faster machine.
