What do you think, I tried not to make the prints look like they were stamped into the sand, I need to work on them. Sharen:)

Hey, that's pretty nice... The footprints look reasonably real and the surf breaking on the shore is actually very nice...

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 15 July 2001 at 7:34 PM

Thanks, the surf on the shore is actually 3 terrains and one plane kind of all put together, started with a plane, added elongated terrains and volla, surf. Sharen:)

Well, the surf works and it makes for very convincing water... it's one of the hardest things to do... I can see you have an amazing knack for Vue already... :)

That's really nicely done, Sharen! The prints look as if they were made while the sand was damp, but not real wet. The kind that makes wonderful shapes of feet and hands and whatever else you press down onto it. ;)

Been trying the foot print thing myself. You seemed to have achieved success with it. I've been trying it on a sand dune and your right it's hard to eliminate the stamped look. Oh by the way greetings everybody I'm new to Vue.

Thank you Varian. :) I have been using Bryce4 but after seeing all the really awesome work you guys have done I decided to give Vue a shot. After using Vue for only a 1 1/2 weeks I relized that I am a Vue person. Adios Bryce. Oh also including a pic of my attempt at the foot print thing.

Hey, you did great at the footprints, I like them, that is more or less what I was trying to do. Sharen :)

Cybermonk ( ) posted Mon, 16 July 2001 at 10:38 AM

Thank you sharen.:) How did you go about making yours? I made a foot print with the symetrical terrain then boolean unioned it with the dune. At first I mad some models in Rhino but they didn't work like I wanted. So I thought the terrain editor would be easier because I could do it in Vue with out importing and exporting every time I wanted to make an adjustment.

Cybermonk, what I did is draw the left foot in my paint program, saved it as a .jpg, then opened up Vue, made a terrain, went to the editor, then clicked reset, then picture, imported it, clipped it at .10, flatted it a little more with the soft brush and there you go, I flipped it after it was made to make the right foot. How did you do yours? Sharen

Cybermonk ( ) posted Mon, 16 July 2001 at 12:10 PM

Just painted it in the terain editor. I copy and pasted there after. I wasn't as concerned with getting an exact foot print because the dry desert sand would never hold that kind of impresion. So just kept playing with it to prevent an edge to, the rim of the print. It could be a bit smoother but its better than what I started with.:) Mostly wanted to see how hard it would be to do.

tradivoro, the water was actually very easy, it was those darn foot prints that took me a while, but thanks for the compliment. Of course Vue has to take the credit with the render....nice nice program....I can't stop saying that. And am thrilled I have it. Sharen:)
