Hi, I'm not a stranger to Carrara (But I still use Infini-D more) and I simply dispise the complicated way one has to achive transparency. I have done everythig from the book and from numerous tips to try to get a good transparency. I have in countless hours turned everything on and off (light through transparency and the settings in the render pull out for example) and tried evey parameter settings, but I still wind up with these problems. For some reason the eyelashes always work, but I always get black eyewhites and shadowing on the eyebrows. Since the import groups the cornea with the eye i can't get rid of it short of opening it up in Bryce and removing the cornea and re-exporting. This is a hassel and time consuming. Any ideas? I really am lost on this one. Bryce 5 is nice that they decided to do soft shadows, but Carrara does them better. I'd like to do some great rendering in Carrara but this little problem has always changed my mind and I end up using a different program to render. And Yes I do have the latest upgrade to "Studio" James

there is a tutorial for doing the eyes of an imported poser figure on carrara. I'll try to find the link. It involves producing a figure in poser with eyeballs white, hilites black, 0% hilite size, 100/100 trans, no dropoff, no texmap, no transmap. you export to carrara as obj, all boxes checked except morph target. import with defaults. then you apply a spherically mapped eyeball texture to the eyes in carrara. note that eyewhites are not transparent and they differ from eyeballs. the fix in Bryce is just to delete the eyeballs, but that's tricky in carrara.

Yea, in Bryce you can get at each of the sub-object parts of the eye pretty easily, but not so in Carrara. You can make the Eyeball element 100% transparent, but even that does not fix the black eyeball problem. I hit that a few weeks back and wasn't able to resolve it before I had to move on to other things... Tom D
