RorrKonn ( ) posted Sun, 09 August 2009 at 6:53 AM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 2:46 PM

Ya know at the bottom of a venders web page
There are "Product Reviews" and 99 out of a 100 times there are none.
So does any one ever post a "Product Reviews" ?

Unfortunately I rarely do it, mostly because I forget too.

Maybe an idea would to have some starsystem next to each product in ones order history, in that way you can at least rate the product pretty fast without the hassle of going to the product page.

Never bothered so far.

I post reviews as often as I read them: Never...

IMHO the are pointless, as the gushing phrases you usually see there don't tell you anything about the product; They are just an indicator of how many loyal fans/friends this merchant has.

Product usability, quality, and the promos showing those are the only incentives to buy, at least for me. But I guess there must be a lot of people who will just buy what other bought, given the ubiquitous "What other users bought" listings you see on all online stores (even outside Poserland)... shrug

I post a review EVERY time I buy something. And I will post negative ones as well, although usually when I do that the vendor fixes my problem and I revise my review. I only leave them really, because I am sure it makes the vendors happy. Not because I think anyone uses them for buying purposes.

Problem with reviews is that they are only  of any use after the product has been used a few times. Then it means going back to the vendors page some time later and writing one. Most people, me included,  forget or cant be bothered.  I think if I ever bought a real stinker I would make a negative comment but that hasnt happened yet and if they are good, well, that`s what I expect if  pay for somwething.

Oh yeah. I USE the product before I write. I usually have a few weeks between when I bought it and when I reviewed it.

Usually I am in too much of a hurry and can not try it our right away.
If however a product makes me all happy and impressed me quite a bit i will come back to leave at least some stars as review... I am really bad with writing reviews english still not being my main language if I write like a review i get a mental block being reminded of how horrible writing a book review for my GED class ( because my foreign graduation is not good enough here xD ) anyways back to what I was trying to say.

Some products really really deserve a review and I will maybe come back later and rate them other things just kinda get swallowed up in my HUGE runtime after being used for what I purchased them.

On the contrary I also do not like leaving negative reviews sometimes promos look a lot better then the product but still someone likely put a lot of effort into it and just because I don;t like it does not mean others will not and they should make a decision out of their own expreience and not because someone did not like something.. I do however have asked for refunds before when things are just plain broken and that I would note down in a review.

Reviews are very important for me to consider buying a product.

The problem is, when I buy something, I dont know how to leave a review.

You can either revist the product page and scroll down, OR there is a link on your account page that says "leave product reviews". If you click on thet it lists all products you have bought that you haven't left a review for. I think the products drop off the list after 30 days or something though.

I could give indepth reviews to the things I've bought, but a number of them are older, and I'd have to give them a through look over to note all the positives and negatives.  Doing a good job at making a review that I would like to attach my name to considering what is at stake is a lot of work.

Plus I'd find giving a good rating difficult.  Usually when I criticize something in the art gallery I intentionally not give a rating.  I dunno if that's possible in the marketplace and even if it were, I'm not sure I'd want to avoid rating something because people will be spending their money on it.

When should I give a 4 instead of a 5?  When should I give something lower?  Most of the people who leave reviews 5 star stuff so if I give 5 stars I'll look like another guy in the crowd.

I don't often. I usually forget for the simple reason that 99% of the time, I first use a product months after I initially purchased it.

Perhaps it's time for me to go around and rectify some of that....

Occasionally. However, I don't usually install something I've purchased right away, and quite often by the time I do the item is no longer in the store.  And I'm not one to go and leave a review on something that I've never used.

If I buy a product I've very happy with, I'll post a rave review.
