Subject: Please -- images of the new P8 figures .. and are they that ugly?

Dave-So ( ) posted Thu, 13 August 2009 at 4:15 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 7:33 PM

I've seen maybe 2 or 3 images of the new figures. There are 8 new figures? Could someone render all of them in both the high and low resolution and put images in this thread?
THANKS

Also..I've senn a couple of horrific looking images done with the new figures..bad joints, really terrible textures, just not looking too good. Are they really that bad ?

Two new figures with four characters each.

I think the joints intend to demonstrate the new rigging capability, rather than necessarily be good.

It's not the tool used, it's the tool using it

hmmmmmmm
here's the description from SM

**8 New Figures
** The new set of eight 3D humans included with Poser 8 are the most advanced figures ever included with the application, and are a showcase for new Poser 8 features. Built from scratch, the low res and high res figure variations are performance optimized for the polygon count and have photorealistic textures. Rigged using Poser 8’s new multiple sphere and capsule fall off zone technology, problematic joints such as hips and shoulders now bend with more realism. By using the new Dependent Parameter tool to link deformers to specific joint positions, areas such as knees, elbows, chest and collar joints have smoother folds, less stretching and more realism. The new Poser 8 figures are offered in four pairs of male/female couples with European features, African features, Asian features and Hispanic features. The Poser 8 new figures are fully compliant with the Face Room, the Walk Designer and Talk Designer, and via the use of Wardrobe Wizard, existing clothing content can be converted to work directly on the figures.

8 figures...then it says 4 pairs ... so to me, that's at least 4 different figures ..but a pairingly not.

well, I would still like to see all of them.

There's a post on my Poser 8 Blog about designing the characters and an image of a new custom Character Pack called Nadia.

Imo, yes they are. If I was SM I would have been ashamed to release these figures. I've done a few renders with them and I was so shocked by how badly they are that I don't even want to touch them again. Such a great application, being brought down by terrible content.

But I guess SM is proud of them. The first thing you see when checking out info on Poser 8 is allt his about the great new content, instead of showing the new features first.

I know you tried your best, but she still doesn't look nearly as good as what we see from other figures. Not even close.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

not bawshing...its just what i've read and seen...so far.
And I thought it would be a good thing to have all the images in one place .. like a lineup of the figures.
I honestly hate searching all over the place for information...
lazy? No, just like info easy

Very pretty, Papa Blue!

From the gallery, I hope Rhiannon will be supporting Alyson!

Also, I am thrilled to see Andolaurina releasing Nadia.  I bought Gabriela and it was loaded.
Fantastic.  Gorgeous.  I'm so happy to see new support for Sydney, always my favorite!
Nadia is my next purchase.

Hope I didn't miss any pictures.

And I'm glad exclamation points are free!

LOL.  :)

I don't have P8 yet but I think that most Poser stock figures are an starting point to be used as an introduction to the aplication and for lerning true art of creating a character as **PapaBlueMarlin did, I think that the people that complain a lot about this figures are too much used to just tourn dials :-) I'm shure if they take this characters to an aplicantion or use the poser true morphing tools will feel the satisfaction, will like them a little and complain less.

Some people just like to complain. They're never happy.
