Subject: Poser 8 library plus internet

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this but it seams the new Poser 8 library accesses the internet constantly ??? Why?

I have the start/stop script for P8 library and while the library is working it is constantly sending and retrieving data at 7kb/s and dosnt ever stop unless i use the start/stop script to stop the library.

Is this another bug?
why would the library need to send/retrieve data all the time?

Ok after more checking I found out that my network monitor is monitoring all interfaces eg:
my network card and TCP Loopback interface ,
If seams the libary is using the TCP Loopback interface for some reason and is not actually sending/retrieving data over the internet?

It should not be accessing the internet. If you can contact Smith Micro with the details. Also, try disconnecting from the internet and see if you still see the activity. I suspect this is Poser accessing the Index of the Library, but unless you are changing view of the Library, this should not be constant.

The Library GUI talks to the Poser server constantly. It's because things can change even if you don't touch the GUI. For example, the current actor can be deleted, and then the "save prop" button might have to be hidden. So the GUI is checking in with the Poser server, asking permission for various elements to remain visible, or to make them visible if they are not currently visible.

This comes up a lot. The TCP loopback interface is for using sockets for internal communication, from one process in your computer to another in your computer. It has nothing to do with the Internet, and nothing even to do with your local area network.

Think of it as using your house phones as an intercom.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
