Subject: How do I save pose files?

jonstark ( ) posted Tue, 25 August 2009 at 12:27 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 8:41 PM

I have noticed that I can save pose files (using Poser 7) the usual way, by clicking the + symbol, and it does seem to work (adds a thumbnail and there is definately a pose that I can I have saved and can re apply later within Poser) however when I actually look at the pose folders where I have saved this pose, there is nothing there, it appears as a blank folder.  So if I want to move poses that I have saved into different folders (while reorganizing my runtime for example) there is nothing to move.

Obviously the pose has been saved, but where has it been saved to?  And how do I make the pz file visible?   Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance  :)

Doc Geep's gonna come into the answer somewhere. Check the back room up in the title, and I'm sure he has at least one tutorial on it.

I just sorta kludge my way through each time...

That's really odd. I can always find mine (I use Poser 7 too). Are you sure you didn't inadvertently save them to an external runtime folder and just thought it was in the main runtime?

Yeah, I only had one runtime (thinking of adding more now that I'm running Carrara to do most of my work in).  Maybe it's just a bug with my Poser 7 if no one else is running into t his

Do you use Vista? If you do then vista will save in a Vitualstore folder:-)

I do use Vista.. could that be it?  And if so how do I find this Virtualstore folder?

On my computer it is:
C:UsersLeneAppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram Filese frontierPoser 7Runtime

Thank you so much lkiilerich, that's exactly where all my poses were.  Now I can finally re arrange my poses to be in logical places (instead of where I saved them at the moment, without thinking ahead)  :)

I'm noticing there's a lot of stuff in there, not just my poses.  Gonna see how much I can delete outright to free up system resources.

It would appear that when you installed your Poser 7, you elected to install it in the 'Program Files' folder.  Unlike Windows XP, Vista is sensitive about file changes within the Program Files folder and will shuttle your Poser files to the VirtualStore.  The recommended workaround is to install Poser in it's own folder in folder on the Primary drive.
