I posted a question a few days ago re what I called "soft edged shadows". I still can't work it out. What I'm trying to achieve can be seen above. I can adjust shadow density, but can't seem to get soft graduation on shadow edges. The first pic is a crude Poser render of what I want. The second is a crude render of what I don't want. Can you see what I mean? Any suggestions?

On the light properties panel (for raytraced shadows at least) is an option to blur the shadow edges.  I think that will help you.

Ah it's vue :) no problem.

On the light property, select the shadows tab and click on the "Soft Shadows" tick box (or it might be "No Hard Edges").  The adjust the settings below that to ge tthe effect you want :).
