Subject: Did SM buy rights to the WW engine and process for including new figures?

I was wondering if SmithMicro bought the rights to create new figures into WardrobeWizard? If they did, it would be great if they put out a tutorial so that the community could add support for a lot more figures that are otherwise not commercially viable.

I doubt it, since Philc just added a new free figure supported. Odds are they just bought the right to include it in the application, and the benefit for Phil would be all those installed WWs, and people looking for new support for it.

It didn't sound like adding new figures was a small issue.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

No WW is licensed to SM, we still own it.

Creating new figure support is more art than science. It takes me about a day to put one together. I added support for Sixus Goblinz this morning.

What does WW include in Poser 8?  Conversions from all other characters to Alyson and Ryan?  Or conversions amongst any characters?

Included is the support for all native Poser figures, if I have seen right. So you get James and Posette and Sydney, among others. I cannot check any longer since I had WW before and copied the files over already, but I'm pretty sure about this.

Its the Poser "families" back to Poser 4 plus the new Poser 8 Ryan and Alyson figures. You can convert between any figure you have the support files for. You can also use it to add morphs to the clothing to match the figure by converting from and to the same figure.

I wasn't sure if the NDA would prevent you mentioning that.

I'm glad to see the Goblinz getting support. I hadn't picked them up yet, but am going over to take a look right now. I wonder how close the figure compatibility is with the Sixus1Cirque midget figures?

If I am correct no Daz characters are included in the Poser 8 app.

Thanks for the info, PhilC!  Do the Poser families include Miki 2, Terai Yuki 2 and NearMe?

May I simply add to this thread what a blessing WW has proven to be? Poser is littered with abandoned figures, like cast-off toys, and Phil has managed to make them useful again.

I dont know that we have canonization, but this would be a great place to start.

It should be really close since the Goblinz' mesh was based off of the Midget,   I tried putting clown clothes on the Goblin and there was a little break through here and there, but nothing huge.
