Subject: Has anyone tested Poser 6, 7 or 8 on Mac OS 10.6

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if everyone was able to successfully run Poser 6, 7 or 8 on the latest operating system.  I've been reading that some Adobe CS4 users are having problems but I'll be upgrading on Monday and I just wanted to see how others are faring and if they found an increase in renderspeed or a slowdown or any problems with the new OS.

Thanks in advance.

Poser 7 and Poser 8, along with Poser Pro all work fine. Poser 6 is not supported on Snow Leopard.

Poser 6 will run, but may have Display issues with some of the OpenGL drivers, forcing users to use SreeD Preview.

Run it on a real computer.

Wow, wasn't this same issue addressed on a thread dated Friday August 28th?

Dear fibbits - this is not the way and completely off topic. I am not starting a discussion, but your post is indecent.

Yes P7 and P8 run flawlessly under Snow Leopard.

Quote - Run it on a real computer.

Completely uncalled for. If you have nothing concerning the actual question to contribute, please refrain from this kind of thing. We all love our pc's - MAC users included.

FWIW, I'm a user of both and both have their plus points.

There's already a very recent thread on P8 and Snow Leopard. I posted a problem there regarding the Library not showing the full contents of a folder and being unable to navigate in Open, Save and Search dialog windows (this latter bug is true with both P7 and P8 under Snow Leopard).

For Poser 6 users, just tested and everything opened fine on Snow Leopard.  Render screen took a little while but will test renders to see if there is improvement, slow down or any instability.

The finder is way faster under 10.6. switching to a large runtime under PoserPro is noticeably faster then on 10.5. So fast, that I sat there and wished I had P7-Pro library display-navigation and P8's render speed, IDL, and docked pallets in one app.

I tested one render and on Poser 6 and wow...it was quick!  I'm going to do a more intensive one later with higher render settings.

Library display was quick and overall, P6 ran quite quickly, so I'm guessing P6 and P7 work very well with some users having reported some problems with P8.

I've also noticed that my 24" iMac is running about 10 degrees cooler with Snow Leopard, even in the middle of a challenging render. Now, if those missing folders would just show up......

Those with the Library issue with Snow Leopard and the Poser 8.. check to see if you have the latest Flash for the MAC.. Adobe released a new one today, and apparently Snow Leopard shipped with an older version. I have not had a chance to fully test the new release to see if it has any impact on this issue, but will let you know when I do (and can get back over here)

If you do download the newest one, make sure you use the Adobe Uninstaller first. (You also have to download then shut down Safari before installing)

Adobe provides two sources to test your flash player version

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
or
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

10.0.32.18 according to their website is the latest release.

I just installed it but I didn't see this post so I didn't uninstall adobe flash first.
anyway, the way I did it has not helped my library issues in posr 8 at all.Looking forward to Sr1 - still

Poser 8 for me works (or not works) just as well in snow leopard as it did in leopard.

For me the library worked reasonably well in Leopard. In Snow Leopard, missing folders and if I click refresh P8 crashes. Job tonight is to reinstall P8 and see if that helps. If I knew SR1 was days away I would just wait. I get the feeling it is going to be several weeks yet.
