Subject: V4 Head & Body Morphs Not all working.

Spawn2002 ( ) posted Tue, 01 September 2009 at 1:43 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 8:01 PM

Ok,heres my question to the gurus here.Is there a fix to help my inject morphs working in P8?At the moment, some head morphs work but not others or some bodies work but not heads. The same inj's have been tried in P7Pro & work perfect.
TIA.:)

In Poser 7, load V4, inject morphs, save character.

Open Poser 8 and load that character. Do the morphs work?

Are you talking about DAZ morphs or morphs that comes from elsewhere?

Check the file extensions. Poser 8 doesn't like extensions that are in caps. So PZ2 won't work while pz2 will.

It is one of the things that are likely fixed in the upcoming SR1 - but until then, just change them with any renaming software (RenameIt is great, and free ;) )

Try reinstalling V4 and the head and body morphs and then running that nifty little .dat file to initialize each one after installing.

Ibelieve the issue with OP is the same one I run into from time to time. (And this is not a Poser 8 issue, this has happened for years...at least ever since I started with Poser 6)

If I load a character via inj pose, then use the remove pose, install another character, use the remove on that one through several iterations eventually, the morphs stop working. It happens on all the Mil 3 figures as well as Mil 4. It also happens if you load multiple copies of the same fiure... morphs only work on the last one I load. It can manefest in either of two ways: 1. The dials completely disappear. 2. The dials remain but do nothing.

The only way I've found to fix this loss of morphing ability is to reload the morph injections into the figures. This restores everything to functionality.

This is almost always because you need to run the updater batch file that sits on your desktop after all the installing is done.  I don't know why DAZ haven't made this less manual and cruddy after all this time, at least they could have the installer run the updater automatically after it's finished.

I'm not sure. It is as much a probelm with V3-M3 as with M4-V4 for me.

It is kind of ionic, isn't it?
On the one hand the idea was to try to make things as simple as possible, and they ended up making a convoluted, complicated mess for those who don't know what's going on, those who may have a PoserPro.exe, but not a Poser.exe and those who might not think to create a dummy file.

And then they complicate the whole mess with that moronic updater.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

Frankly the updater itself is really clunky and amateurish, I don't know why they never took the time to get the installer to actually just do all those changes that the command-line tool does.  It was really pretty half assed the way it was rolled out, and still is.

Thanks folks for the replies, much appreciated. The basic problem,is that most RebelMommy figures will only load part of the figure's morphs.IE:Head but no body or vice versa. The main morphs are the elf ear morphs. When clicking on the inj file(in Pose menu)it says loading but has no effect.
Agreed with the comments though about Daz updater utility. It seems like a backward step rather than forwards. No wonder so many people ask "where does this file go",when installing content.

Sounds like it's searching. Do you have the Morphs+++ files?

Acadia, this is what I would think also.Yes,the Morphs++ files haven't changed from their working directory in PoserPro 7.When the inj's are supposedly loading(indicated on icon) the ones that don't work won't even bring up the hourglass cursor.Yet some figures work perfectly.Have noticed sometimes that the path to the library, when I hover the mouse over an icon, doesn't display the correct path.Might display half the path correct or will display totally different path.

It doesn't look like anybody answered this one. I found the answer in another thread (thanks Netherworks for posting the answer there), actually, because I was having the EXACT same problem.

The extension for the pose files is .pz2. Poser 8 does not like it when that extension is instead .PZ2. If you manually rename the file to be .pz2 instead, it should work. I just did this with the lovely Circe character that I could not get the morphs to load on and the morphs load just fine for me now. Hopefully the Smith Micro people are aware of this (I am going to report it there just in case it hasn't been reported already).

This is the thread, by the way, that contained the fix: www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php

Uhm.. I said to check the file extension all the way up in the third post. Poser 8 just doesn't like capitalized extensions, be it in poses, mats, textures...

It IS being fixed in SR1 from what BagginsBill has hinted, but until then, best option is to rename them.

Doh! You see, this is what I get for reading without caffeine. Forgive me?

edit: Typos, still no caffeine :(

Thanks everyone for the answers & solutions. At the moment 95% are working & Poser is humming along nicely. After the initial post it completely crashed but was fixed by correcting the "poser/8/8/8/8/8 etc" bug.Oddly enough this also corrected most of the morphs from non working to working.
