Can someone please direct me to a tutorial on Texture/UV painting in Blender 2.49?

Every tutorial I find are for older versions and I can't get it to work. :(

Many tutorials still work, if you have something that shows Blender 2.47 or similar, the only thing that you need to discard is the "Face mode", that has been removed. Simply press "U" in a 3D View, when in edit mode, to access the UV Map menu and select the first option "Unwrap" to unwrap the model.

Unwrapping I can do. It's getting the painting to work in the UV window to work.
Managed to get it to work once but it was a test and didn't show up on the model in the 3D window.
Since then nadda.

To be able to paint you need to create a new image. While in Object mode
open the UV/Image Editor window. IN the Image menu, click on "New". Select the size of your image, usually 1024x1024 or 2048 x 2048.
When done, click on the name of the new image and give it a meaningful name, like "New Texture"
Click on the "pin" next to the image name to keep the image showing. Switch to edit mode, select the faces/maps that you want to paint, select the "textured" preview mode.
Go to you UV window, from the Image menu click on "Texture Painting". From the View menu, select Image Paint. IN the Image Paint panel click on "Draw", Pick a color paint, see it in the model, be happy :)
