Subject: DNQ (Dummy Newbie Question) # 2.... Wardrobe Malfunction

Well, gosh....

I can't leave all my girls nekkid, but I can't seem to get this clothing thing figured out... Guess I need to read the manual some more.

Poor Vicky is having a wardrobe malfunction - she's looking at her dress (April Dress by Evilinnocence), and thinking 'I don't remember a hole in this dress when I bought it...'

I've selcted the dress, and conformed it to the V4 figure, and set the parent to the V4 body. I've gone to the magnets to try and magnetize the dress to her, but the skirt still doesn't seem to want to work right. The sleeves seem to be OK - they follow her arm movements just fine.

I'm sure I've missed something somewhere, and I'm still looking for a clue, but I just thought I'd run it by everyone here.

Best,
Rod

You may have missed some morphs or posing handles? Since I haven't got that dress I don't know for sure, but skirts are one of the limitations of Poser. Probably why so many of the Vickies are running around nekkid, the poor things ;)

Anyway.. look for some dials on the dress, it may either be extra, invisible bodyparts (known as Body Handles - not quite the same as love handles but close) you can grab and move around, or there may be some "leg out" ect. morphs available.

Finally the dress MAY be a hybrid dress, meaning that some of it is conforming (like the top obviously is) and some of it may need a trip through the Cloth Room :)

Good luck! ^_^

The clothing items also contain all of the applicable CrossDresser fix morphs, which allow you to fix pokethrough when posing your figures.

So apparently you have to use the body handles to pose the skirt.

The skirt handles are transparent. I've included a graphic - I hope it helps.

Select skirt left or skirt right under "Body Parts". Those are the handles to move the skirt for you. You can either do it with the dials or pull the actual handle (they'll be visible if you go into the material room and make the Transparency "0.00000". Just remember to make them transparent again before you render ;o).

Ah so it was a free dress. Should have checked :) It looks really nice.

And I kinda thought it might be a case of body handles. But of course if you don't know about them, you won't look for them either :)

Hey, thanks, everyone!

Yeah, I see the handles, now, sneaky little rascals hiding down there...

That's what you get when you stay up waayyy too late fooling around with this Poser thing. I finally went to bed after I saw a Progressive ad on TV, and started visualizing Flo tricked out in Goth...

BTW, if you think the dress was bad, you should have seen what I did to poor Vicky in the hair room. It takes 'punk' to a whole new level.... I guess I need to take this Poser one step at a time instead of jumping around all over the place!

Thanks again!

Well, here she is after y'all directed me to the stealth handles. Thanks to everyone here, Vicky's a happy lady now. Gotta get that girl some shoes, though...

Our lovely model is wearing April Dress by Evilinnocence; hairstyle is Felicity by Oro_Snake. Makeup and post-production by me in Photoshop. Sounds like a fashion magazine.....

Thanks again! You all are awesome!

Yeah, I'm a cheapskate :-D Some of these websites are better than Walmart. I did find those stealthy handles, finally after reading the responses.

I like your little alien guy waving at us!

LOL! Oh, I'm supposed to actually read those?

One of my favorite sayings back in the day, when I saw a pretty girl, was 'She's built like I designed her myself!' Thanks to technology, now I can :-D

Indeed it did! I found the stealthy little rascals.

Thanks, Laurie!

Yoiu did a pretty good job putting her in that background, Rod! The lighting is a little off but considering how long (or how short) you've had Poser, this is nice!

One thing to consider, please take it as a tip and nothing more: When in shoes, women can sorta balance on their toes. On bare feet.. Well.. at least I can't ;) Might be my feet malfunctioning though.. who knows? I've never figured out how to walk in high heels either L

But in short.. when she's not wearing shoes, be sure to put her feet in a natural position on the floor :)

And nobody ever reads readmes. Why start now?

Juyst because it's called a "READ ME" doesn't meany it's mandatory. Look at poor Alice when she drank whatever was in the DRINK ME! bottle!

Glad you liked little Bingo ^_ He's waving right at you ;)

Why, thankee! Actually, I was just playing around - truthfully, I didn't even try to match up the lighting. I just shot a quick photo of the east end of my computer room, and stuck her in there with PS-7. I did move one of the lights around to her backside to try to simulate light coming from the lamp, but other than that, I didn't do anything extra. I can certainly see how one could spend weeks on a complicated scene. I've got so many images in my head now, just waiting to get out!

Yeah, that Vicky is such a kidder! I guess she was trying to imitate the little astronaut guy hanging next to her ;-D I was actually planning to put heels on her (in Photoshop since I haven't downloaded any shoes, yet), but I got lazy, and just let her tip-toe! My wife can't walk in those, either :-)

And that was after the mushrooms..... Brings to mind the old Jefferson Airplane song.... Now, where did I put that bottle....?

Waves at Bingo

Thanks for the input! I'm having a blast with this, and all the great folks here!

Rod

nah..I'm such a poor boy, all my Daz characters are stock, no morphs +, -, or deformers. No injections, removals, heck, some of the morphs don't work...;) So I wind up just typing numbers into the dial settings, and see what flies...;)

Of course, I've also been known to uncheck 'visible', more than once...;)
