Subject: How do I use Michael 4 Morphs?

stvnhthr ( ) posted Mon, 21 September 2009 at 9:23 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 12:20 AM

I just installed the Daz3D - ps_mr477 - Michael 4 Morphs++ pack to my Poser 6.   I was hoping I would be able to create some super hero type figures with the morphs.  But for the life of me I can't tell what is different in my Poser content after the installation.  In the parameters dials under the body I thought the Morphforms, Morphs++, Morphs Full body, or Morph Shapes would have new parameter dials to adjust the level of morph, but they all are "-" signs when I expand their directory trees.

How do I use the morphs?

I did get the Genitals to show up as a separate figure under the Daz People but it treats the genitals as a separate unattached figure I constantly have to select and paste pack on the figure.  Is this how it is supposed to work?  It is a little eerie to have a free floating penis.

:)  Welcome to the Gen 4 figures.

First up, after you have unzipped and installed any new morph packs for V4/M4 into your Runtimes, you need to run the .bat files to initialise them. M4 came with desktop items, one for the body/head, the other for the genitals to run the script as well; these are called Update Michael 4....  If you don't see the desktop icons, then you need to head into the Runtimes and run the .bat file in the M4 morph folder.

After you initialize, then open Poser, load up M4 and inject the morphs in the Pose Folder. Basically, just click on the icons for Morphs ++ in the pose folder to load. Then they should show up in the parameter dials.

As for the genitals, once loaded, Conform it to M4 (drop down menu Figures>Conform To chose M4.

Okay, thanks for the help.  I located the .bat files and ran them, but I still see no difference.  Forgive my ignorance (I've only recently moved from Poser 4 to Poser 6) am I looking at the right place where I should expect the new dials to pop up?  When I click the Morph++ directory nothing happens.  How do I inject them?  Thanks again for your patience.

I've got the genitals conformed and no longer free floating.  I'll sleep better at night.

The Inject files are located in the Pose folder.

Basically, you can select the file in the Pose Folder of the Library, double click on it, or use the arrow at the bottom of the pallette. Just like using a pose.

After it loads, head back to the Parameter dials and there should be + signs to open the tree to select the morphs.

Got it.  I was looking for the morphs to be in the figure folder rather than the pose folder.  Just a case of how I think differently than the programmers.

Thanks for your help.

Another thing.. based on the fact that Mike's teeth seems rather... protruding.. it may be time to update your graphics driver. What is happening there is an OpenGL error. It will render ok, but it looks weird and you might as well update :)

I wondered why his teeth started protruding.  Thanks again

I have had a horrible day and this was the funniest damn thing I have read in a long time. Thanks for the much needed giggle LOL.

I recently got the M4 morph++ package and found that after loading the morphs I had to click on some part of M4 and the "-"'s turned to "+"'s.  I have a different question for you.  Your picture show a nude Michael.  I can not get the boxers to disappear and DAZ has been no help at all.  They simply told me "that's the way he comes".  The only options in the resolutions is "Mapless" or "Boxers!".  Any suggestions?

You should have a MAT pose that gives you a nuce Michael as well as the one in boxers. he loads with them as default, just like V4 loads with that horrible purple bikini - but once you apply another MAT to him, they're gone. Then if you like, save the new, nude version back to the palette and you're set :)

I don't have that MAT.  That's the first question I asked DAZ when I got the M4 base.  They said that was the way the base came.  When I got the Morph++ I assumed a nude MAT would be included.  There was none.  I contacted DAZ again complaining about putting genitals on the outside of Boxers and they didn't even reply.  Is this a case of "Bug them til I get an answer"?

GrandmaT,

This may be a little late, but--

The file you probably want is not included in either the M4 Base, or Morphs++.  It is in the "Michael 4 Skin Maps Standard Res."  This product is included in the "Michael 4 Complete bundle", and the "M4 Pro pack".  There are also mats in the M4 Elite products.

Thanks wcbncal.  At least now I know to stop hounding DAZ.  I'll check those packages out or see if the skin maps are available alone.

Yes, The "Michael 4 Skin Maps Standard Res." is a stand alone product.

I looked it up on the DAZ site.  Next time my penny bowl reaches $20 I might get it.  I'm so glad I got a "FREE" character from them.  Geeeez Louise!!!
