Subject: Modeling the Metaprobe for Poser.

As the subject mentions, I'm modeling Space 1999's old Metaprobe ship, and testing in Poser as I go. At least, when RL gives me a chance. :) After around 2 weeks, using every bit of spare time, this is what I have on the command module so far. Modeling the CM is done, as is UVmapping. Texturing is almost done, then it's on to the interior, and then the rest of the ship.

Here is where I am in Modo.

And here's a test shot in Poser 7.

Building the neck, just need to do the hull plating. Basic interior already in place. I'm going to detail the interiors and UVmap them AFTER I've finished the ship. There will be structural differences between the studio model and mine because I'm going for realism and detail. The studio model had neither, since it was only used in three short, long range shots, it didn't need it. I need mine for closeups and interior shots. :)

Looking good. Btw, I thought these things were called Eagles not Metaprobes. And if I remember correctly they had a whole bunch of them. I think I remember them losing five or six in one episode. But that was a long time ago so I could be way off:-)

Come to think of it, I think I remember having an Eagle Estes rocket.

Greywolf Starkiller ( ) posted Wed, 23 September 2009 at 9:53 AM

The Eagle was the basic transport for Moonbase Alpha. There were, however, various
specialized ships. The Metaprobe is from the first episode, and was destroyed when
the Moon blasted out of orbit. It's mission, was to have explored planet Meta, though
where Meta was located was never mentioned. :)

Hmm, not ringing any bells, guess there's been too much beer between then and now. I would like to watch them again one of these days. I will have to see if they are available on DVD.

Thanks

Neck is done, docking section almost done. Waiting with any further UVing and texturing until the exterior is complete. :)

Would it be possible to see the wireframe?

Greywolf Starkiller ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 8:23 AM

I think so. I'll save one the next time I'm in Modo. It's dense though, so I don't know how much
detail will be visible. :)

And the completed model. Only UVing and texturing left to do.
