Subject: Buy older version of Photoshop

kenmo ( ) posted Tue, 22 September 2009 at 1:45 PM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 2:15 PM

The latest version of Photoshop is way too expensive for me... I recently purchased an older version of Painter (ver IX.5) from Purplus.net for $49  and last month a copy of Photoshop Elements 7 from Purplus...  However they don't seem to carry older versions of Photoshop...

Does anyone know of a good source where a legit copy of an older version of Photoshop can be purchased?

Thanks kindly...

Ken

There is always Amazon.com, but sometimes I question the legality of the software sold by resellers there.

If in doubt, you could always email Adobe and inquire to whether or not they can still sell you a copy of earlier versions or if there are other stores you can get them from.

There was a copy of CS2 at Staples, but I'm figuring you mean online sellers ;)

I received an Email offer from Adobe for an upgrade to Photoshop CS4 (standard) from Elements 5, 6, or 7 for $299.00 (US) the other month.
The offer ended Sept 15, BUT I know several people that have still gotten in on Adobe’s deals a week or so after they officially ended (with the bad economy, I think their a little more loose about this).

Certainly worth a try, registering your Elements and giving Adobe a phone call.

From my Email….

“to order by phone, call 800-585-0774 and mention Offer Code stepuptoPSCS4.
*Have your Adobe Photoshop Elements serial code ready for verification.”

Heres one on Ebay Photoshop 8.0 CS for $128.50 Unregistered Version.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Adobe-Photoshop-CS-8-0-Windows-Unregistered-Full-Vers_W0QQitemZ290351012946QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439a44dc52&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
I have purchased full versions of Adobe Premier Elements 7 and Adobe After Effects CS3 recently and registered them in my name with no problem. Check it out.

I'm fearful of e-Bay when it comes to software.... I've heard horror stories of people believing they were purchasing legit  software only to receive burned copies of warez.....

LOL< Yeah, maybe 10 years ago that was true, but now all you have to do is check how many transactions they have had against their rating.
Example:

  1. If they have 3 transactions, No Way!!! Except as a buyer.
  2. If they have 250 transactions and they are 50%, No Way, that means they are doing bad business half they time
  3. If they have 3000 transactions and they are 97 %, 98%, 99% , Yeah, I will go for that.
  4. I have 36 transactions with 100%. I have never been burned, but I also use PayPal and they will let me resolve the any dispute or they will pay me back. I have purchased Lightwave9, After Effects CS3 recently, Adobe Premier Elements 7 earlier this year. A $369 watch that sells in the Mall here where I live for $650, dozens of Frontline Flea and Tick which I turn around and sell locally for twice the price and it is still cheaper than the Vets and if all goes well I am looking and a Honda VTX1300c or actually several of them and I hope to be riding one soon. I am telling you, you can not go wrong with EBay if you hang around and watch things even for a short time. But I never by out of my country either ;^)

besides getting the actual OEM discs of PS you need to be sure the Serial Number has been released and transfered to you.

I know people who got the discs fine but found  they had bought from an individual who upgraded and were still using the serial numbers  (on versions of PS before implementing the "activation" process, you could install PS but it would still be considered warez without the SN registered to you)

That is why I'm NOT interested in purchasing on e-Bay or via a private sale... I would prefer a legit source like Purplus.....

Geez, guys! You make it sound So Scandalous!! All you have to do is look for "FULL VERSION, UNREGISTERED". That's what I have done and if you do that then you are OK.
Purplus isn't a bad place to shop, but you can get it cheaper. Even Amazon has better prices from time to time.

Sorry but I'm not willing to take the chance on e-Bay... Now can we kindly remain on topic and leave any reference to e-Bay out of this thread?

Does anyone know of a good source for a legitimate copy of any older version of Photoshop?

Cheers

Ken
