Hey, cheers!
Andrew, if you want to send me your vue file, I can have a look and see if I understand what's going on? Just PM me, and I'll give you an e-mail  address.

I have a big problem vue doesn't render anything other than a standard model! its not just that one scene ...I am going to do a fresh install , as it was working before but now is not. It is a good thingbecause its not just that scene! Hopefully it works on the reinstall.Bruno sorry for wasting your time when i should have checked that origionaly. If you want to have a look at the file though I am more than happy any recommendations would be great.... and of course you will get a mention when this blockbuster is released lol Fingers crossed the reinstall works

No need for the fresh install . I worked out what was wrong. When I changed settings suggested to stop Vue crashing, is when the atmospheres stopped working. I reset to defaults and everything is fine... apart from I now get the standard crashes again lol oh well if I save regularly I can live with it. Must be some kind of bug.

What did you change Andrew?

andrewbell ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 6:07 AM

These were the settings I changed too...  and Vue ecame much more stable...

However as you can see earlier I was unable to get any kind of atmosphere other than standard to render as animation. However I reset this to default and any setting now works again.  Stability is noticeably not as good though! .... crashed twice in an hour but I need those atmospheres so going to have to stick with it!

You should also untick "show decimated mesh" preview, this is a resource hog, and reduce the far plane distance to 10km.
Scene and line AA are resource hogs too, and barely make any difference, except in the crash department!

andrewbell ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 8:07 AM

I am not sure what current settings I have, all I know is the settings above made me unable to produce good atmospheres without crashing.

Oh, I thought these were the good ones! Try disabling the background draw thread.

andrewbell ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 10:33 AM

Thing is I never have any performance issues I have6 gig of ram this scene never uses more than 2.5 gig and I think 1.5 gig is windows! Never a hitch when navigating the scene the radeon 4870 sees that it is smooth as. And processor usage whilst building the scene never goes above 20% so its not like I am using hardly any resources at all... until the render happens. I find it strange that changing these apparantly unrelated settings I can disable atmosphere features , but this is the case... I bet I am the only one lol

bruno021 ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 11:27 AM

Yeah, strange indeed, these features are for viewport display, they have no effect on the rendering, normally...

Well it definatly works now hehe ;-)
