Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 5:33 pm)
How much money do you want to spend?
If you plan to render with Poser 8 and don't need it cheap, go for a Core7 Nehalem intel. Four cores with multithreading means eight threads for rendering. Combine that with at least 8 GB RAM and a 64-bit-OS and things should be great. Nehalems are a bit pricy, though.

systems optimized for gaming is also a good starting point because they usually have good video cards large hd and plenty of ram. Places like tigerdirect.com or boxx technologies this will give you a good starting point on what to look for and pricing
You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech
Look for the fastest processor you can afford and check the video card support Opengl 1.5 or 2.0 .
A top end gaming video card is nice but wasted on Poser. 64 bit operating system will help with keeping the maximum memory allocated to the 32 bit application , and may let you use a 64 bit renderer. High processor speed and dual or quad core.
****the new cpu is a quad core and we tipped on intel with intel chip satz with 4 times 2.8 ghz i think and a geforce graphic card 9600 with 1 gig ddr2 ram on it then 4 gigs ram on the motherboard but could be built up to 20 gigs, i know i could just use that if i get the windows 7 that supports more gigs i saw the core 7 but they wanted 1000 german euros for it. that is a little expensive lol. what doese poser use most the cpu or the ram or the graphic card ???
A gaming machine is not nessesarily the best choice. Few games use more than two cores, Poser 8 can use 32 of them. A Core7 Intel is wasted in a game machine, but Poser 8 can run eight threads on it, making it a good part faster then a simple quadcore.
No need to get an really expensive graphics adapter. Good OpenGL capabilities and not ultra-cheap should be more than enough.
About the power supply - see what components are there, look how much power they need. Add a safety bonus for further expanions, and you are set. High performance graphics adapters need much power, but you don't need them for Poser. If SM spoke about "more power", I guess they refered to computing power, as in "too small cpu/not enough ram". Otherwhise it would not make sense at all.

hi i ame trying to build a new computer specially just for poser doese anybody know what requirements i need best ??
i like to render with firefly but if i just turn the quality up a tiny bit its too much for my old computer.
