Subject: Change shaders on props

basicwiz ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:11 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 3:23 AM

Basicwiz's dumb question of the week:

Is there a way to make a file to change the color setups for a prop the way you can make a pose file to change the colors and textures on a figure? I can't seem to see how to do it.

material?

basicwiz ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:17 PM

Actually, I'm just wanting to make several different shader variations for the prop, and have them easily loaded. Is that what you're asking?

GeneralNutt ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:23 PM

Save them in the material room / library. Is there a reason you want them in the pose folder?

basicwiz ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:32 PM

Not really. I had never noticed the MAteials room, believe it or not. I'll investigate this.

Many thanks!

You haven't been in the material room?!  That's where most of the poser magic is kept.

I mis-typed.  Material room yes... The MAterials area, (over at the right of the areas list) no.

GeneralNutt ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:52 PM

Which version of poser are you using?

basicwiz ( ) posted Wed, 30 September 2009 at 11:58 PM

 Poser 8

There was a bug not sure if it was fixed in SP1 but you had to be in the material room to apply materials. To be safe look on the tabs on the top, choose material  room. In the library on the right at the far right, is the materials. If you need a screen pic just shout.

That bug still exists.  You must be in the material room to apply and save material nodes.

If I'm not mistaken, your original question was whether MAT pose files can be made to work on props. They can, but with some provisos - see the linked thread for more information. As far as I know, this is still the case with Poser 8.
