Subject: What I found on MY walkaround (really 'drivearound')

Boy, was I surprised to find this herd of bison just about 8 miles from home. This appears to be the bull of the herd--the herd itself had a simply awful background so I passed on them. Yes, it was just this hazy--in fact, much, much worse--I worked on this A LOT (they don't call these the Blue Ridge Mountains for nothing--altho' I'm in the foothills). Boy, do I pick the worst days for a day I can take to photograph. Beyond haze--sitting right down on top of us, no sun, high humidity. Yuck. I used a Tiffen 2x Megaplus with my G1-always manual. I sure envy Alpha's zoom. I have a pretty good one, but old, for my regular SLR. They just aren't available for anything but the digital SLRs unfortunately. My camera zooms to 3x and this gave me 6x--still pretty far away, but I have high resolution, so I could crop reasonably. Nothing special about the photo except it was neat to find these critters right near us. Diane

Now the really fun part you have to photograph yourself and digitally place yourself ontop of the bison doing a rodeo ride!! Pretty neat. Isn't it amazing just to watch herbivores graze! Bsteph

They are cool--I raised purebred sheep and dairy goats for many years, so love 'herbivores' S. I'm not sure about the 'rodeo' pics though Bsteph LOL. Maybe I'll add Vicky2 to it (Poser). Diane

Is Vicky2 as great as it's made out to be? And does it work with anything from vicky 1? Bsteph

I have to admit I haven't played too much with Vic2. However, yes, 'she' works with Vic 1 things plus Posette's clothes too.

It always amazes me how these creatures can look so beautiful and shabby at the same time.

It's the fur! I think it molts every now and then and falls off. Bsteph

Yes, these semi 'furred' animals do molt. Even sheep molt if you don't shear them (eventually). I would expect it is about that time--they should be 'slicker' closer to Fall--and then grow another coat again, of sorts. Not ever having touched a bison, I don't know about the texture, but 'haired' sheep look like this part of the year--they have a coat of sorts and shed or molt. This has obviously matted and the mats are falling away since they are 'dead hair'.

Oh I like this. Reminds me of when I was little and my dad hand drew a bison for me. Great pic Leigh
